Title: just been to the docs
Post by daveengland on Sep 15th, 2003, 3:23pm
hi folks,
i've recently moved about 150 miles so had to get a new doc for my meds.
good news was that he's given me a repeat prescription
for both imigran and O2,24jabs and 12bottles a month ;D ;D ;D

but when i tried to talk to him re-verapamil,other preventatives and a posible stress test for my heart,he didn't want to know.he said that verapamil wasn't prescribed for anything at "that higher dosage"340mg?i think was mentioned.also said there was no need for a stress test

i have a neuro appointment coming,but it won't be for another 6months+

should i wait to see a neuro for the verapamil,or is it something that a more enlightened doc can decide?

he wasn't convinced about theO2 either, but he gave me it when i showed him my records

got my first proper non-rebreather-jonny you're right-
O2 rocks mate!!!

any ideas appreciated, although i can stop the beast,it'd
be nice to maybe kick him in to touch for a bit!!!! ;)

PFDAN's to all

dave

It's hard to get a stress test unless you have an irregular EKG. As far as the Verapamil goes...I believe it's the #1 prescibed med to combat CH , isn't it ppl ? Too bad I can't take more than 3 or 4 - 80's (it slows down my hear rate too much)  :(

my dad died of a heartattack at 49,grandma(dads side)died of a heart illness before i was born.i have had a heart murmur detected twice.during and after surgery, two or three times now,i have had problems due to low blood pressure

thought that a stress test might be a good idea if
i am going to try preventatives?

eww damn...hate to hear all that. The Verapamil may LOWER you BP to. Better be careful, huh. !

exactly mate ???

love my O2 and imigran, but docs says theyre very expensive-primary care trust may not want to pay for more.

have tried mushies as a preventative-initially very good response, however supply problems for theforseeable future

do all the preventatives work by affecting BP?

thanks dave
