Title: I'm New - Please be gentle Post by frenzik on Sep 14th, 2003, 8:26am Hi to all, I am a newbie and have never written to a message board before. I was fortunate ;)(?) to have been diagnosed with CH early. The demon first visited about a month ago, middle of the night and I’m up panting with the dog (who wants to go outside since I’m up and pacing). At first I thought it was a sinus infection. Made an appointment with an ENT doc. Two weeks later, a couple of late night trips to the ER and a CT scan, he referred me to a very sharp neurologist. Welcome to the wonderful (?) world of CH. It is a relief to know what I have but it doesn’t help make the pain go away. I found your web site last Wednesday and been lurking for a few days. I’ve read many of the threads and have already found some valuable information - THANX! I’ve found that for me hot, hot showers, an ice bag and a couple of cups of fresh coffee (while sitting outside with the dog) helps take the edge off. The neuro suggested O2 and I tried it when I felt an attack coming on. I was amazed that it worked. Please bear with me while I learn the CH lingo. I am very glad that I’ve found this site. According to my wife, we have two dogs, 4 cats and a jackass (she is affectionately referring to me as the latter). Since I've been having these &^%^% CH's the puppy who is 75# and the kitten have been taking turns at the watch while I go through my nocturnal routine. It's almost comical that one will move out of the way so the other can have a turn watching over me. I am in awe at the welcome messages. It is amazing to me that each of you share this same demon and have such an outpouring of compassion. Hope I live up to the standards. BTW, I'll try to touch base with the group as often as I can but sometimes I get pulled away on short notice to sometimes exotic but mostly just strange places for extended periods of time. Praying for a restful night sleep for all F2 |

(Didn't want to say 4,000 odd people. LOL) Really glad you found us. It's such a shame how many don't have the company, information compiled here, and the understanding that we find in each other. Don't forget to research our OUCH site. It's a good idea to include your partner in this. There's a Family Support Group there found under Cluster Help. It has been a great help to the entire family as well as the supporters, as we supporters need help sometimes too. Come back whenever you can..........we'll keep the front light on. |
