Title: Well I'll be damned... Post by catlind on Sep 11th, 2003, 5:31pm Well I would have been anyway ;) I just got home from the docs. Course moving and getting a new doc and having to deal with the military from scratch again was not a pleasant prospect. After much cajoling from friends (I luvs ya) and my head insisting I required O2, I broke down and went to the docs. O2 written up and prescribed without the blink of an eye...Trex same deal. I was dumbfounded. Aside from the doc saying that he hoped I wasn't lying about my cardiology issues (and the fact my cardio records aren't here yet *ahem*) it went as smooth as could be. Then I got home, trex in my greedy little hands. Because of my ticker I can only use 2ml's of the 6mg injection. I have had the vials and syringes up til now. Opened up my little package and I have 2 boxes of the auto injector vials :( :( :( Well phuck I thought, now what am I gonna do, I can't do a full 6mg injection, don't have an auto injector even if I could. Next best thing, I put my Macgyver hat on and grabbed my trusty Gerber tool, and proceeded to saw the plastic away from the plastic box thingie. Lo and behold, I got out the injector hehe. I proceeded to take an empty vial from my regular vials, use the auto vial to fill up the empty vial, and VOILA! I have the ability to use 2ml shots again hehe. Sooooooo the point to all this is, if you have the auto injectors, and you want to use only 1/3 of the shot, and aren't comfortable enough to use the q-tip trick to the left, find a fellow clusterbud who uses the syringes and vials, and request a vial to use as your filling station. Not sure if you can just buy syringes or not, but if you can they are rather inexpensive. Instant reduced shot that is just as effective (for me and many others) to abort the beast, and you get 3 times the mileage :) Cat |

I have a teeny bit of MacGyver in me too...we use sterile viles at work (empty ones) to collect blood samples etc. So I have some here with rubber stopper tops and put my stat doses into those. Then use an insulin syringe needle to draw up .2ml. Works great. btw...if anyone needs empty vials I got em too. I can also send empty sterile vials to those the need them. But they really shouldn't be used a BILLION times, cause bugs and germs will grow in them eventually. Happy Fer Ya Cat!! Mast |

Title: Re: Well I'll be damned... Post by Elaine on Sep 11th, 2003, 9:31pm Listen to Ree about those needles....never share them and keep them clean. I use my needles twice and throw them away. I clean them after the first use. You can clean them by pouring alcohol in a glass and filling the needle and empting it ! We use to do that at the vet I worked for. Make sure the alcohol is all out. Still don't use the needle more than two time. I have alcoho wips I wipe the needle with when I am not at home after each use. One other thing....the needles should not be thrown in the trash. Did you know your garbage man can slap a law suit on you for doing that. I keep them and box them up and drop them off at my doctors office. They dispose of them for me. |

Her dog picked it up in his mouth, she yanked it out of his mouth and used it. But I didn't hear that in NY. and I digress anyway. Keep it clean like Elaine said. lol LindaH |
