Title: feeling beat up
Post by ckelly181 on Sep 8th, 2003, 2:16pm
Hi. Newbie here...

I've posted a couple of times. Just had a horrible day and no one to spew to.

I've had CHs for 20+ years. Before imitrex I had sansert. Hated the wooziness, but PF, wonderful sansert. Now I'm in the "finding new meds" struggle.

I'm trying Lithium. Week and a half and it's not kicking in. Today at work - Kip 9. Imitrex shot didn't work. I also had 3 Exedrin migraine pills and residual benedryl. A toxic factory.

I had to hide in a closet and rock and bang for an hour.

It finally abated enough that I could call the doctor to PLEAD to have him refer me to a neuro. I could barely talk I was crying so hard. He got me an apt. for Thursday.

I don't know what else to say. I'm feelin' pretty low. Between fighting w/ my GP about meds and referrals, a new school year and living on the edge, I'm pretty close to wanting to stay in bed all day.

So, blah blah whine whine. I figured someone out there in CH cyberspace can relate.

Chris

The appointment with the neuro on Thursday will be great.  If ya haven't started your headache diary start it right now !!!  Write down as many "little things" about your headaches that you can remember and then start righting down a description of your headaches with the next one you get !!!!!!!!  Write down the time, duration, how it came on, what ya were doing, describe the pain, what ya had eaten ........ anything you can think of !!!!!!!!!!!  This will help your neuro.  Also, write down a list of things you have tried already, how long you have tried them for and the combinations.  This may take a while but is worth it.  Then write down any things you may think might help that have been described here.

Good luck.  Hope this helped.  Hate to see anyone locked in a closet for more than 5-10 minutes while Imitrex kicks in !!!!!

Awww Chris,

Never think of it as whining.  This pain is real.  I had a bad time today as well.  Had an attack early while sleeping, then was able to doze off, only to be awaken again with another beastly visit.

My hubby had to go to work today, and I found myself here all alone.  All those little things he does to help me during an attack, I had to do on my own. I was in an absolute panic.

I came here....to the board, and that calms me.

It is a great feeling to know that you are not alone.

Hang in there sweetie.....Give it hell !!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone,

I got home and felt more in control. I'm writing my neuro/headache journal as I sit here.

This board is great. It's the only place I've found where ppl actually KNOW what it's like. Just being able to "whine" is kind of helpful.

:)

Hi Chris!

I am sorry that you are having such a hard time right now.  Life will pick up.

Battling doctors have been my biggest frustration to date in my life.  They all say different things and they change your meds the second your body begins to accept them.  I too, was taking bottles of Exederin Migrane.  My doctor said that they might be making my head hurt worst.  He banned me from all over the counter meds and put me on two different prescriptions.

I hope that the neuro appointment goes well.  I am also begging for an appointment myself.  I would have to drive an hour away to get there though.  And lord only knows when these damn headaches will start.

Anyways, good luck to you.

Julie
