It's great that you found this website then. You need to read, read, read all that you can to understand what treatments are available. Have you tried oxygen? It seems to help many. Look to your left and click that oxygen button. You would benefit perhaps from some preventative meds. Click the OUCH button on your left, then click on the Cluster Help button, then on the medications button. Read and print. Verapamil see,s to be one of the first drugs remommended to try as a preventative, but there are others there. At least get to a GP doc with this info and tell him to get you on a preventative. Hopefully you won't have to go thru too many before finding what works for you. You just need to get a grip on this beast before you can fix the rest of the problems going on. Others here will offer other advice too. Remember we can only give suggestions, we are not doctors. I hope you get relief soon!

I'm so glad you found this place.

Been where you are at.  No insurance, 6 hits per day months on end.  Feels like flat out torture.

Okay.  You won't die.  And they go away.

Read the oxygen info button to the left.  It's inexpensive, natural and works (if used properly) for many.

There are many natural remedies that I used and got through with during times without insurance.  These remedies are listed here.  Lots of people apply COLD to facial areas of pain.  You can even use a bag of frozen peas from the refrigerator.  I used to fill sink up with ice cold water and put rag in it and then press to facial areas of pain.  It aids in constricting the engorged blood vessels.

Also, make strong coffee (have it ready to go in advance)  the second you feel an attack coming on get that hot strong coffee going and start swigging.  Then do the cold compress to the face.  If you get neck/shoulder ganglion lump a warm bath helps.  I know this sounds like a lot but believe me i do this "habitual ritual" like the snap of fingers to a tune.

Don't give in to the pain and don't let that desperation and defeat overtake ya.  Do what ya goota do.

My e-mail is listed if you need to talk to someone or need help with the info here.

Well wishes****HANG IN AND KEEP FIGHTING.  You'll win.  Trust ME! :)

"That which does not kill us only makes us stronger."

If you have children, and you are unable to work, you NEED public aid. I know it is a very humbling thing, but with public aid, you can provide food for your kids, and medicaid will cover most of your meds. There are many options, and do not stop in pursuit of them. Just remember one thing: Giving up is NEVER an option! Keep fighting, and lean on the many shoulders we have here.

Peace,
Carl D

Welcome and most of us know what you're saying. I hope you stick around as there are some very good ideas here about coping with this horror.

Here are two links: One for a technique I found effective and a second link to a description of this disease which does a wonderful job explaining to employers and others that this has nothing to with what is thought of as a “headache.”

Man, I just came out of the same hell you are describing.  I cannot describe accurately the depth of despair that was my life.  For me it was almost 2 solid years of multiple headaches a day.  It destroyed my productivity, my ability to be a Dad, my ability to earn an income... you know the drill.  One phrase kept me going the whole time, because I knew it had to be true.  "It will end".  The beast is now kept at bay with a combination of Lithium and Verapamil.  I was very opposed to even trying the Lithium, that's why it took me so long to try it.  Now that I have a pretty normal life (a few headaches, but nothing like before) I am kicking myself for not giving it a try sooner.  Oh well.

This site taught me about the wonders of Oxygen.  If you don't have it, get it.  It provides amazing relief when used properly.  I know it sounds crazy.

Welcome aboard.
