Title: Weapons of Mass Destraction
Post by Brian_Y on Aug 28th, 2003, 8:08am
I think we've done this before.  But we have some new folks added to the mix.  And I like this sort of thng, so humoring me has its advantages, I suppose.  Plus, it's fun.  Is telling in some ways...

What are the ten (10) items you cannot do without?  What defines you as a person vis à vis these items.  Materialism be damned, of course.  ONE RULE:  You cannot include a person (i.e. wife, husband, child, some friend)  I'll begin:

1.  Charleston, SC.

2.  My seersucker suit (or, when feeling whimsical, only the pants).

3.  My patch madras pants (sniff...sniff...I love you guys....sniff).

4.  Sweet, delicious booze.

5.  My golf clubs (and all of the accompanying tools of ignorance which come along with them).

6.  Baseball.

7.  http://www.fark.com

8.  Orvis.

9.  My Cannon Rebel.

10.  William Faulkner and John Cheever (yeah, they's people, but they left behind books and they are dead)

OK, well I'll leave God and electricity off my list, although I give thanks for both daily.  ;)

1)  My pets:  2 dogs and 2 cats (1 cat I can't find right now and I'm getting worried).

2) My bed:  Pillow top mattress cover, down pillows, snuggly blue electric blanket, oscillatating floor fan so I can turn on the electric blanket, lace curtains for the street light to dance thru, radio/CD player, need I say more?

3) My house:  vintage 1950's ranch, finished basement, knotty pine den, blue gingham country kitchen.

4) My yard:  half acre, trees, berries, nuts, lilacs, peonies, red bud, fairy sanctuary.

5) Movies--I'm a Blockbuster gold card member.  Lately I've been renting episodes of the HBO series "Six Feet Under."  It's great!

6) Books, books, books, books.  I use the library website to research and hold the books I want.  They bring them from all their branches to my branch and phone me when they're in.  I also check out music CDs and books on audio tape and CDs.

7) Lace

8) Creativity-I make jewelry, paint, write essays, do graphics with my 'puter, design clothes, decorate Casa Carla.

9) Raytown, it's America's hometown.  I was 51 when I moved here and finally found my home!

10)  Teaching--if they will listen, I will teach.  I have two workshops scheduled:  "The Life Mask Playshop" and "The Hero and the Shadow."  I'm also planning a gathering at Casa Carla on 10/11 called "Fairy Moon."

As usual, I ran onandonandon, but that's the danger of asking!

Smooches, all.

If you want to lend a hand, I could go 165 feet.
Would mean a better putting green ofcourse.

Ok, damnit , you shamed me into it.  I will put up a list BUT with this stipulation:  Most things that have been listed, we all know we can do without, therefore my list is the list of things I would not WANT to do without.

(I am allowed to do this according to the rules and regulations, see page 473, paragraph 6, sub paragraph d: "Chuck can do whatever the hell he feels like.")

first an formost: clusterheadaches.com - no joke here!
Second: My laptop - so that I can get to ch.com
Third: (yeah, I know girls, I am a guy and you expect me to put a car in here, so I will) My 1971 Triumph Spitfire
Fourth: My classical music collection
Fifth: My grandfather clock
Sixth: Strong black coffee (especially the stuff that has been on all day.  The stuff that comes out in lumps when you pour it.  The stuff that would disolve a metal spoon if you were to put it in.)
Seventh: Cigarettes
Eight: All my wood working tools and equipment
Ninth: My painting of a clown, by Red Skelton, personally signed by Red Skelton
Tenth: That thing (that I think still works, but you can't prove it by me) that hangs between my legs.  (I had to put something in this slot!)

Ok?  There is my list!  What sort of a whacked out freak does that make me?  Ha ha!!

OK, folks, I know I'm still a Newbie, and my mother says my autobiography shoud be titled "Gullible's Travels," but I gotta ask:

What's a hummer?  Is it like a bump?
FrankF, why are paperclips among your top ten?

And re bean mocs--I bought brand X for $5 at Dollar General this week.  I know they are of inferior quality, but I can just throw them away if I step in dog hummer with them.

Smiles,

Carla

Because they are an incredibly simple invention that is so useful...
You can clip all of your papers together
They make good Christmas tree ornament hangers
Good for cleaning out your earwax
You can tie up the cords hanging under your puter desk
Great for picking cheap locks when you lose the key
Good for hanging things from office ceilings
Makes a good weapon when used together with rubber bands

The clean version is it's a vehicle built by GM used by our troops...the other is what Monica did to Bill Clinton.  :)

Gullible here.  Oh, I GET it!

When Jimbo said, "Holy shit, I must be dead," he must have meant, "Holy shit, I must be in Heaven!"  I thought for a while that a hummer was mouth to mouth resuscitation (him being dead and all).  But now I think that I had one of the mouths in the wrong place?

FrankF, you are absolutely right about paperclips, amazing inventions....

I guess this is why I feel so at home in Raytown.  Not much humming going on   ;D

With affection from your Gullible Gal in MO.
