Mark,
It does seem a little slow at home and here at work.
That's the looooong way to St Louis but I like that stop in New Orleans...always a good time to be had there.
You coming to St Louis? If so, let me know and I'll make sure you don't feel like an out of towner.

Jim

THe packet loss rate for the internet in North America is now above 10%. This means that every 10 out of 100 packets never make it to their destination and are retransmitted. Out of the retransmits, 10% of those also do not make it.

The average before the latest bach of viruses was around 0%.

Also, Nachia is currently perfoming ping sweeps (searching for IP numbers) at such a fast rate that it is literaly crashing routers. This happens when a router runs out of buffers which happens when a router is searching for an IP that is not there. It buffers it and eventually runs out of "memory".

It will get worse before it gets better. ISPs around the world are currently trying to apply "filters" to stop the bad stuff. This will take time.

Some Lucent devices cannot be fixed but are mostly dial up.

And thats the way it is folks!

Again, this is the AVERAGE packet loss in all off NORTH AMERICA!

Believe me, the problem is real.

Then again, the host could be hosed also. Perhaps a combination of the two.

Personally I think its a goverment conspericy to take our attention away from the pending 500 billion dollar deficit.

I think we should declare war on deficits and install a temporary price keeping force until the regime can be changed.

But, I digress.  ;D

Sorry Jim,
I was composing my last post and did not see yours until after I posted. I agree the problem is very real..I checked here (http://www.internettrafficreport.com/main.htm) after and it still looks pretty congested......

Legacy routers? How many Cisco 1600s are out there one wonders.
How many email servers  have autoresponders sending messages back to you about the Sobig virus etc.

Seems slow to me also. Won't bother you with the stats
