Title: Kidney Stones (not CH)
Post by Brian_Y on Aug 21st, 2003, 8:42am
Got a question for y'all.  Who here has had kidney stones and is there a gradual onset of symptoms?  Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I did about two years ago. Fortunately it was caught early and my doctor was able to break them down before I passed them. A friend of mine wasn't so lucky. It's a pain like no other. I've learned to drink plenty of water and once glass of black cherry concentrate every day.

I didn't have a gradual onset. It just hit me one day at work. Almost had me crying in restroom. Your doctor can do a urine test to see if you have any stones.

I had kidney stones TWICE this year  :o. First time in January...woke me out of my sleep. My back felt like it had a knife in it. Had surgery the next morning. The second time was LAST WEEK. Again...my back started hurting all at once. This time I knew it was stones but I passed it in 3 days without much more pain.

A freind jus had to have some sorta lazor blasting process (don't quote me on the entire process or what it is exactly called)......he had em bad and had real large ones. Had a line put up thru his.......um......well you can imagine what I mean rite........and into his kidneys and think they did one at a time. They left the line in a while.....then they somehow could locate each stone and try to blast em or break em up in teeny pieces so he could pass em. He just got the line or tube removed. Guess it was a painful drawn out procedure but didn't require surgery doin it this way which he was very grateful for in the long run and why he went that route. He seems ta be doin pretty good rite now. Pam that is only repeatin what the guy told me in major details

Brian,

My neuro wanted to add to the meds that I was taking this time around.  She asked if I had any history of kidney stones in my family.  I said that my Dad and Brothers had them.  She discounted it on the spot because this medication had been known to trigger your possible condition.

Check it out.
