Title: What meds Post by catlind on Aug 19th, 2003, 7:34am is everyone taking? It's been awhile since we've had a run down on who takes what meds and what meds work for folks. I use imitrex injections, maxalt, O2 and Aleve LOL. Imitrex is the nectar of the gods, O2 is a close 2nd, Maxalt works half the time, and Aleve helps my stomach rot away LOL. No preventatives here, none of them liked me very much :( Cat |

Title: Re: What meds Post by Ann on Aug 19th, 2003, 8:06am Meds...wish I weren't takig any! :D I take 3x120 mgs of verapamil regular release daily 2x300 mgs of lithium daily...both of these as preventatives and it seems to be working...haven't been hit since June 24th! (fingers are crossed cause I'm entering the danger zone!) When in cycle: imitrex injections and amerge. I take the amerge every night before bed to make sure I get a good night's sleep. Ive got Prednisone for the next cycle and a few imitrex injections for the bad ones. I keep my 02 with me everywhere I go, even out of cycle. I dont take preventives because i think they will cause rebounds. ..............andy |

First three weeks got deseril (ergotamine) worked well but was very heavy with side effects. Tried Imigrane nasal spray hated the taste and the dripping in my throat. Didn't find that to work better or faster than relpax. PFDAN painful murazza |

Title: Re: What meds Post by Svenn on Aug 19th, 2003, 12:48pm Hi there This is my coctail Verapamil Retard 120mgX5-7/daily during cycle 3 weeks after last hit tapering down with 1 verap every 3/4 days until you are on 1 a day.1 a day for another 2 weeks you can decide to quit the verap or take 1 a day.Oxygene alone at 10ltm for 15 minutes or combined with imitrex-shots does miracles.The shots should start working in 6-9minutes.a few seconds after that you are almost painfree Prednisolone in high doze for 10 days 80mg then over a 3 weeks periode step down like 70-60-50-40-30-20-10-5mg every 3/4 day This work fine for me The very best from Svenn |

For the last two weeks, I've only had two hits and just a few shadows. Major miracle going on here....it's amazing. The few shadows I've had have been knocked out by 02 within five minutes. So....for those wanting to know my meds....... ;D shrooms verapamil (180 twice a day) Imitrex as needed (that amount is way down.... :-*) 02 as needed |

I am currently tapering the elavil and today is my second day taking 50 mg of it. I want to get off the Elavil completely. I take imitrex injections, like others I think the nasal spray is nasty if it drips back into your mouth, relpax also. Have never tried oxygen. Have used Amerge but not often. That's about it. The triptans help stop the pain, nothing else, no narcotic ever has. Stuey |

Title: Re: What meds Post by cazman on Aug 20th, 2003, 8:22pm replax but with out insurance and at $173 for nine pills i only use them when i have to , but to be honest at first i complained how much they cost but the reality of it is they are a god send anything is better than going thru hell over and over again. im now looking into what ive read here , the shrooms thing sounds like a good idear but finding that here might prove hard 02 it my next try im see my doc next week. |

Title: Re: What meds Post by tommyD on Aug 21st, 2003, 5:54am dette - "Shrooms" are psilocybin mushrooms. They are illegal. They also work really well. Thery make you hallucinate if you take enough. They also work really well. They are not for everyone. But they work really well. LSD does too, but it also is illegal, makes you hallucinate and is contraindicated for those will mental illness. Check the medications board for recent discussions, and go to www.clusterbusters.com for more information. I used shrooms and water to avoid attacks in my last cycle. A small dose (enough to get me as high as two beers would) followed by another a week later. Did that every two months or so as needed for eight months. Did I mention they work really well? And lots of water, as in Water X3 (see button on left), minimum 3/4 gallon a day and chug a full quart of cold water at first sign of attack. And Reed's Extra Ginger Brew (really strong ginger ale), for the shadows. The ginger only works for me, far as I know, and I'm not sure how well, but the Reed's is pretty tasty (find it in health food stores). -tommyD p.s.
