Title: MY DAD! Post by River_Rat on Aug 14th, 2003, 4:35pm I left a messege for ree and it made me start to think of my DAD, You see he had Clusters for years and years, He died before anyone ever figured out what he had! How long did you folks have these things before you figured out what you had? My guess is, that you figured it out before your Doc did. For me I went 11 years, with tylonal3's, Vikes, Motron 800's These ch's just laughed at that shit. I went to the Dentist, Eye Doctor and the Chiropractor. Finally a pharmisist told me they might be clusters I researched it and I was a text book case....WOW!! My DAD----They made him wear a neck brace (wtf) They once made him go to the hospital every night for a week so they could take like 3 pints of blood and replace it with 3 pints of different blood (again wtf) That poor guy had nothing. Anyway, I thought this would be an interesting thread, Its funny to me that its so often misdiagnosed. Whats you story?? LEE |

Title: Re: MY DAD! Post by juvy on Aug 14th, 2003, 4:39pm River_Rat I was originally misdiagnosed with CH. When the Neuro mentioned it, I had no idea what it was. I did a littel research and ended up here. Later (almost a year) it was found that I actually have CPH which is almost a form of CH. Compared to most I was diagnosed pretty quickly. From onset of symptoms to diadnoses was i think 3 years. |

He was scared shitless he would get them. He put me on verap, lithium and O-2, this was 1985. Sadly he moved and I had mucho trouble getting other Doc,s to do the same, they didn't have a clue. Lee |

My vision is still good, I think. I hardly wear them, until my eyes are burning from looking at the computer screen all day. I never wear them outside of the office either. Hmmmmm. Perhaps that's why my golf game is in the toilet right now. ;D |

Hence, the visit to the eye doc. And the eye doc conveniently sells frames and lenses right in his office, soooooo, I imagine anyone who goes to that office ends up with subpar vision. :P |

The first HA I had was during sex with my wife, and she was on top. Unfortunately, we told them about it at the hospital. I was in the hospital for about two weeks. Ran all sorts of tests, and all looked fine. The neurologist said I should be proud as he normally does not see such good tests from his patients. It was decided that my problem was psycological. I spent the next 5 or 6 years getting treatment from various shrinks, trying to find out "Why I didn't like sex with my wife, especially if she is on top." They had me convinced that I was crazy. Of course none of this did anything to the beast. It was my sister, who is a registered nurse, who came up with the idea of cluster headaches. It took a while, but the right drugs were finally found that gave me releif! -- What I wouldn't do for some drugs or something that would work now!!! The above is why I will have nothing to do with shrinks. Most of the ones that I went to were almost as crazy as I am. They need to be locked up in nut houses! I know thay can't be all bad, but I have seen over a dozen of them over the years, and there isn't a one of them I have any feelings of competence from. To answer your question, it took about 6 or 7 years before they figured it out. Chuck |

Thanx to this site I proved him wrong. What the fuck did I pay him for? I got more 411 from this site than he could ever imagine, hell I think he maybe even learned something. I could have taken the money that I paid him and used it somewhere useful like expensive booze, carribean stud games, and betting on football games.LOL Seeya, Jimbo |

They wanted to know each and every detail of our sex lifes together and my sex life from day one!!! It was extreemly embarassing and humiliating! And then I also had the headaches to deal with at the same time. They were convinced that it was psychological and not neurological as all my tests came back good. Therefore, I was crazy. - Not that I disput that, but it sure and hell was not the cause of the torture that I was going thru! Chuck |

I always thought i got them from him! My dad was one of the 1st to go through clinical trials on a antihistimine drip or histimine, am not sure of that.It didnt work of course. He suffered way worse than i do because he had no relief at all. But amazingly, My Dad went into remission at the age of 43 and has now been pain free for 30 years. I got my 1st CH at the tender age of 16, I remember it like it was yesterday. The funny thing about it, I didnt even mention it to anybody because i remembered how bad my dad suffered with it and didnt want to have to deal with all of the attention caused by it. I actually didnt start talking to him about it till i was about 25 or so. I got officially diagnosed by a Neuro around that same time. Been a ClusterHead for 28 years now! Patrick |

For a week I'd have this sharp pain in my head that would dissappear until I was getting the pains one right after another......I had NO clue what was going on. Then after a week of this I woke up one night with these pains and I just couldn't take it anymore Hubby brought me to the hospital. They admitted me cause they didn't know what was wrong. I was getting the attacks lasting about 3-4 hrs with only an hour or so break in between at that time and they hooked me up to one of those push button morphene (sp) machines well it wasn't really helping but it was knocking me out. Well I stopped pressing the button cause it was making me sick and I was still in pain but the nurse kept coming in and yelling at me to press the morphene button again and I told her it was making me sick....well to end this story they OD'd me on the morphene oh i was sooo sick and still having that damn pain! Well after 3 days i was getting the pain less and less severe so they sent me home saying I had muscle spasmns in my head! The next couple weeks we went from doc to doc trying to fig out why I was still getting these sharp pains......I didnt find a doc that knew what it was until last year. So it took about 4 yrs to get a diagnoses....which isn't bad from what I've read of other ppls stories. |
