Title: Question for all
Post by catlind on Aug 13th, 2003, 8:49pm
Does anyone experience pain in, around or behind their ear, CH side, with their CH's?

I haven't been getting hit at all the last few days, the odd shadow, and these weird pains in, around and behind my ear.  Specifically the bone directly behind my ear, all on the same side as the CH.

Any info/input is welcomed.  I have no idea if this is related to CH in any way, I don't recall ever having it with prior cycles, but I could be wrong hehe.

Cat,
Never felt anything back there. My CH pain is always around my left eye and temple.
Might wanna tell your doc about it.

Just found this site last night.  What a great place!  In responce to your question, about 8 years ago, I used to have that pain you describe.  It has now switched to my upper molars.  Feels like a tooth ache.  I have had CH's for over 20 years, and there have been several minor changes to where the pain is, over the years.  But then again, I am an exception.  When I was eposidic, I never had any schedule when they occured, or certian time.  I am now cronic, and have been for about 6 years.  Oh to have a week without them!!  Right now, I would be happy with a good 8 hours to sleep through the night!

Cat,
I almost always get a pain on the CH side that is either in my ear, in my teeth or in my jaw. The pain is also felt in a lesser amount during a shadow. I have found the secondary pain comes slightly before the pain behind the eye which gives me a little early warning. The secondary pain is a normal symptom for CH.

Oh yes Cat! Every time I get hit my left side of my face hurts! Goes from my eye to my ear from my eye down the left side of my nose and Jaw. I don't have any top teeth (as you and everyone that roomed with me know and one some who didn't LOL) I swear I have a tooth ace when I get hit. I always said If I could just tear my face off I would be fine. The eye hurts the worst but the rest is right up there.

Yes, Cat - I do have pain right in front of my ear during an attack. In between headaches, I have this weird sound almost all of the time in my ear - like maybe a real low ringing sound... But to answer your question, my ear is affected during an attack - also my jaw, temple and directly above my ear. What's not affected during an attack, though, right? My entire right side of my face and head!!!!

Hope that helped!

Welcome Clusterhead. Lots of good stuff and goofiness here. I hope you stick around. I see something new every day.

The answer to you Cat is no. Never did.

Hope you're settling in well.

Yup! But if this is new for you I would suggest asking your doctor about it. In the meantime take a trip to the trigeminal nerve graphic. But don't let it slip by as "obviously a symptom." Get it checked out.

Hey Cat,
I get that exact kind of pain also. It seems to be centered  right where the ear meets the temple, and behind the ear as well. There is a vessel there that i sometimes push against when i am not in a level 8 or worse and it seems to lessen my pain for a spurt. Just like most here, its like there is a mass of swelling in that region that tends to run towards the temple and also towards that eye.

Yes Cat, mine starts right below the eye then travels down behind my ear to my jaw. I'm thinking the beast is messing with you. Try to take notice if your ear still bothers you when not having shadows.
Now go kick his ass!

Cat,

With the CPH I get that alot.  I also get correpsonding nerve spasms (nerves start throbbing) in other parts of my body.

example, If i'm getting "stabbed" in my left eye with spikes towards the front lobe of my head, I get nerve pain in my left arm and fingers sometimes as well.  It's really weird.

But be on the safe side and ask your neuro.

Cheers no tears,
~Juvy
