Post by Patrick_A on Jul 22nd, 2003, 8:20am
How long should i wait for the Depakote to start working? I have now been on the Depakote for 4 days and still no sign of a let up of the Ch's.

Thanks, Patrick

Patrick I am not the resident expert on Depakote cause I found I couldn't tolerate it. but I can say it may take over a week.  It has to build up in your bloodstream.  That goes for all the medications.  Good luck.  Stuey

Patrick,

I was on Depakote 1000 mg for a few weeks, and I wasn't sure it was effective at all!  I'm still taking it.  I was taking Prednison 40 mg also.  It wasn't until I started taking something called Bellaspas (Bellergal) that my headaches stopped.  I went 15 days in a row without a CH.  I am now off the Prednisone and have had 2 PF days since my last headache.  So between the Verapamil, Depakote, and Bellaspas, I think the Bellaspas is the one working.  Hope this helps.
