Title: Ingredients??
Post by stuey on Jul 7th, 2003, 12:22pm
I just feel like an angry little bitch this morning and it probably has been said before but having money makes ch attacks alot easier to bare (bear?), which I don't have.  The drugs to abort the attacks are out there but the worrying and hoping you can get enough medication to last through your cycle is enough to bring about more attacks.  I cannot afford two imitrex injections at 112.00 for two injections nor can i afford 200.00 for 6 Relpax, Axert, Amerge pills, etc..  The companies making these medications must be using horn of rhinocerous, elephant tusk, siberian tiger claw, panda bear testical or ingredients from other endangered species, for otherwise I cannot see what could be in these medications that could possibly make them so expensive to manufacture.  I worry more about having enough medication to last me through than I do about the actual attacks.  Luckily my neuro was kind enough to give me some free samples, without which I wouldn't have made it this far, but those are gone.  The insurance companies are a joke and that too is enough to bring on more cluster.  This is very very stressful folks.   >:(

Sorry you are going through such a rough time.  Wish there was something I could do for you in regards to the insurance companies and the drug related costs to fight this SOB of beast.

When I hit the 265M lotto this week I'll not only going to put jonny on my payroll to make shinny metal things to decorate my home, I'll also pick up the tab for my clusterheaded friends who need additional funds for Rx drugs to fight the beast.

Another will be to help fund cluster rearch and hire OUCH a full time dedicated neuro for all of us.

Having more money does not make the attacks any easier. The pain is the same and crosses all socio-economic levels. Money (insurance coverage?) makes it cheaper to get meds... :)
But Stuey, you are allowed to rant so rant away.
Asking your doc for samples is a great idea.

There's a link at the OUCH site (I'd find it for you but I'm feeling kind of lazy today) that will give you the number you can call to get financial assistance from the drug manufacturers so you can get your meds a lot cheaper.

having money doesn't lessen pain but it does help buy relief for it.  my insurance doesn't allow me to get enough meds to last the cycle that's why I thank God for my neuro.  i went to the OUCH site (thanks) but i make too much to qualify? for the programs.  little do they know.  i could afford these meds on my own if i could get rid of those pesky little things like rent, food, bills, etc.

There is a post somewhere on the board that says the programs have changed. Call them anyway.

Sorry you are having the shitstorm stuey. I am with you...this stuff costs more than steet drugs!  ;D You hang in there and fight. You may have seen this (http://www.clusterheadaches.org/resources/non_script_treat.htm) link on the OUCH site about natural remedies, thanks Margi !

I also agree with Don....make some noise...here (http://128.104.192.129/taproject/policy/initiatives/mednec.html) is a link about having your Doctor draft a letter of medicial necessity to assist in obtaing more meds. This worked for me.
