Title: Chicken Pox!!! Post by taraann on Jun 26th, 2003, 5:39am No not me but my baby girl has them. I have two kids my son turned 3 in March (Sammie) and my daughter will be 2 in August (Antoinette or Toni for short). I feel so bad for her, esp since it has been so damn hot this week. She is covered from head to toe!!! But may I whine for a minute? I have been having trouble with the headpain this week after been mostly clear for some months now. My head knows just when the perfect time to start up is!!! ::) And my poor hubby is a landscaper so when he gets home he is pretty burnt out (almost literally from this heat!) and is almost no help with her. I took some staydol last night when I started to feel it coming again.....then felt like I could actually sleep some, then my hubby says wow I can't keep my eyes open I'm going to bed. Oh I wanted to cry! I was afraid if I let myself sleep I wouldn't wake up for her cause of the damn staydol. So she woke up and I rocked my poor baby and rocked her and rocked her until finally she fell asleep and then I finally layed down on the couch and fell asleep for about 2 hrs then BAM there was the pain. Eh ok I'm so sorry for whining but I needed to whine cause if I do it here at home it falls on deaf ears lately or I just feel like a bad mother for whining in the first place...ty for listening! :-* |

Title: Re: Chicken Pox!!! Post by Kasey4 on Jun 26th, 2003, 7:20am Whine away, Tara - I know how you feel. Sending good vibes that your kids get better (do they both have it now? If not, they will ;) ). I know how hard it is when you have a CH and have to take care of children. And even when the CH is gone, you're exhausted from the damn thing! |

Title: Re: Chicken Pox!!! Post by jon69 on Jun 26th, 2003, 7:26am Firstly DO NOT appologise for whining, you deserve to. And you must be a wonderful mother- It's difficult coping with any kids when the cycle hits, let alone a sick one. Must be hell for you! Have to say, does your hubby fully understand the immense agony that CH produces? I know you say he is 'burnt out' when he comes home, but it seems to me that he could be doing more to help when your attacks hit, especially when you've been up nursing your sick daughter. I'm a house husband, (I look after the kids, wife works) and luckily up until now I have not had a major CH attack while I'm looking after the kids, (My attacks are usually in the night time). I'm extremely lucky to have a truly understanding wife who fully understands what I go through during the attacks, and even after a hard day's work (and she works extremely long hours in a highly stressful job) fully takes over when the demon is at me no matter what time of day or night it is. If you havn't already done so, visit OUCH (button on left)and print out the 'note for employees' to show hubby - it does a lot to explain to non-sufferers what CHers go through. Hope I havn't offended you with this reply, just my initial thoughts from what you have written :-* Hope you and daughter get over this soon :) |

Title: Re: Chicken Pox!!! Post by Karla on Jun 26th, 2003, 7:28am So sorry you are having a hard time of it at home. It is no fun when the little ones suffer but when you are not well on top of it it really sucks. I know how you feel. To bad your hubby couldn't be of better support right now. I will pray for your home and family. |

Title: Re: Chicken Pox!!! Post by Brian_Y on Jun 26th, 2003, 8:28am Maybe I am not so nice, but here is what I would do: Mr. Fanny, please meet Mr. Boot. Mr. Boot, may I present to you Mr. Fanny? That is all. Parenting is hard. Having two (2) folks to help and only GETTING one is not acceptable. But I am a hard ass, so maybe this is not the right response.. |

Your words do not fall on deaf ears here. I sure feel for you & your child. Pox is a pain. CH is, well, you know. Glad you posted, hope that head of yours lets up soon. Also hope the baby gets over the Pox quick. Get some rest when you can, you sound like a caring, compassionate Mother. :) Oh, by the way.....some of us get together at: http://www.headachesupportgroups.com/echat44/public/index.html Headache Support Group Chat site. Title: Re: Chicken Pox!!! Post by Ree on Jun 26th, 2003, 1:20pm Sorry Tara, the chicken pox are a bummer but when they are done they're gone forever... When Sean got the chicken pox he looked terminal... ahhhhhhhh the memories... Then when Breezy got them more recent and in the days where all the yuppies dont want their kids to get them ((and have this new inoculation for them))... people treated her like a lepar........... Sorry your head is acting up... I think pollen might be a trigger for some people it sure doesnt help my M headaches... Good luck with the pox...... Get a small paint brush and some calamine lotion or benadryl lotion... Let the little one paint her pox it keeps them busy and happy (little daycare helpful hints here) also fill a small pool outside with some aveno oatmeal bath let them splash around........ Call all your friends that have nothing better to do and expose their kids......... Better to get them now than in their teens or twenties like one of my friends......love to you Ree |

Title: Re: Chicken Pox!!! Post by taraann on Jun 26th, 2003, 1:24pm Hey thanks you all for replying. Only one of my kids has the chicken pox right now. But I'm sure my son will get it soon too. My husband is usually a very caring guy...but I've had alot of life changing problems through the years and I think he is just kind of numb to it all. He has stuck with me through ALOT of crap and held our family together with his strength and undying love. I have had headaches and the occasional migraine since before I knew him...but the clusters have only been around for 3-4 years and before it was only once a year or so but this year has been a doozy. (I'm gonna start a ha log and see if it has any kind of schedule or cycle anymore). Well thanks again for listening and being so supportive to a person that just barely joined this mb. Oh and thanks for the links I will check them out. |
