Title: I'm starting a new business and I need to know Post by Ted on Jun 25th, 2003, 1:04am roughly, how many chucks could a woodchuck chuck IF a woodchuck could chuck wood. Also, is this figure dependent upon the time of day or its location? I'm not sure if there is really much of a market for woodchuck chucked wood, but I'm going to take a stab at it. If it doesn't pan out I have this back-up plan of selling sea shells by the sea shore. |

Title: Re: I'm starting a new business and I need to know Post by Peppermint on Jun 25th, 2003, 4:56am Good luck with the wood thing ;D, if it doesn't work out let me know, selling seashells by the seashore requires a she so you might need a hired hand. :P |

If he is smart, enough to get by ;) Also, is this figure dependent upon the time of day or its location? No, but it is dependent on whether his wife is helping him or not ;) I'm not sure if there is really much of a market for woodchuck chucked wood, but I'm going to take a stab at it. If it doesn't pan out I have this back-up plan of selling sea shells by the sea shore. Success is usually dependent upon good hired help .... Pep did you offer your services ??? ;) |

Title: demographics Post by Georgia on Jun 25th, 2003, 8:28am I applaud yer wisdom in doing background research before putting all yer eggs in one basket. butt...the operative word here is not "how much"...butt "could"...theres the rub!....gettin those lil blighters off their bloody arses in the first place will be the real challenge....hence the origination of that age old question. Start small. Don't invest in alot of wood. Make folks provide their own wood till you know if you can get the filthy creatures to chuck. I would. Having recently been to the beach...I want to caution you about the sea shell thing. The only whole one I found and colected still had a hermit crab living in it. All I really wanted was the shell. There were no instructions on it for the humane extraction of the crab. Now we are beside ourselves trying to figure out what to feed it and how to keep it. I hate to see things starve. My backup plan involves either a microwave oven or a fire ant mound....my point is...Some people who "buy" a shell may want some reassurance that "no animals were harmed during the harvesting"...it may even be a law. Whatever venture you embark on...do not try to sell it here...this is a serious site for CH sufferers. love den PS: woops ...i used Georgia's log in. 2 clusterfucks in one house.... |

Title: Re: I'm starting a new business and I need to know Post by Roxy on Jun 25th, 2003, 9:16am In my opinion, woodchucks are reliable little buggers......but, their production ability is all dependent on time of day and location. Of course, then you have to consider work schedules, benefits, workmans comp and in-house daycare. ;D |

Title: Re: I'm starting a new business and I need to know Post by cootie on Jun 25th, 2003, 9:24am I say ta hell with chuckin wood....stuff em and sell em as taxidermy....start a woodchuck breeding program or farm. You'd be suprised what a stuffed skunk or racoon brings on ebay. Mite be abal ta start a side business chuckin sea shells back into the ocean...kind of a 'clean up' detail typea job. Careful when ya toss them crabs back in. Pam that only chucks when sick ;D |

Title: Re: I'm starting a new business and I need to know Post by Donna on Jun 25th, 2003, 10:28am A woodchuck would be good at chucking oysters. Sea shells don't need to be chucked......unless he's chucking the live ones back into the sea. Yes, there is a law about keeping or destroying live shell creatures. |

Title: Re: I'm starting a new business and I need to know Post by Linda_Howell on Jun 25th, 2003, 12:35pm "dependant on time of day and location" I believe the Woodchucks hours are the midnight to 6:00am shift. Perfect hours for a clusterhead. Good luck in your new enterprise, but don't expect benefits or a Gold watch after 30 yrs. Ted, you crack me up. LindaH |

Don...I think maybe you'd make a bit more money if you tried selling the sea shells away from the sea shore, cos then they'd not be as common to the people who may/maynot buy them, so they may/maynot want one....where as if you sell them by the sea shore, everyone will probably have one anyway, cos isn't that where they come from.... Title: Re: I'm starting a new business and I need to know Post by Charlie on Jun 25th, 2003, 8:04pm Thanks Mark. What prick. :D I almost chucked a chuck last summer. The fat little tunneler move in under a concrete slab in my driveway by the garage. While carving out a rec room for himself, he managed to kill some of my favorite shrubbery. I wanted to shoot the not so little twerp but about the funniest thing I ever saw was this fat thing waddle up the bank. I suppose they'd have arrested me anyway. I kinda miss him this year. Tell you what you do: You grind up the shells and sell the dust as coral calcium from Okinawa. They sell it for a buck a pill in the infomercial. Thanks Den.
