Title: Re: My new system Post by Mark C on Jun 24th, 2003, 7:15pm Hey Guys, It ain't REALLY my system, I found it...... guess.....on the internet, but it's still way-cool. Jonny the cockpit shown is an Ask21 Glider. There were more....... http://members.chello.nl/~s.ferris/archer.htm Dreamfleet 737 http://members.chello.nl/~s.ferris/df737.htm Baron 58 http://members.chello.nl/~s.ferris/baron58.htm Cessna http://members.chello.nl/~s.ferris/cessna.htm 747 http://members.chello.nl/~s.ferris/747.htm Mooney http://members.chello.nl/~s.ferris/Mooney.htm 777 http://members.chello.nl/~s.ferris/777.htm Looks like you turn out the lights and the fun begins. I fly Combat Flight Sim WWII (great with 300 watt surround sound!) and CFS 2002, but nothing on this level. For more information on the software used for the multi-monitor set-ups look here. (http://www.wideview.it/) Funny thing is, the guy who sells the software only has 9 monitors on his sim, the guy I posted has 13! Far Out! Mark |

Title: Re: My new system Post by fubar on Jun 24th, 2003, 11:34pm Screw flight simulators.... For those willing to take it seriously, you can fly a REAL combat fighter and do real dog fighting. I swear to God, this is the most incredible thing I've ever done in the extreme recreational activity category. Basically, you get about 1 hour of pre-flight instruction. You fly in an Italian fighter-trainer called a SIAI Marchetti SF260. It has two seats in tandem (side-by-side). The pilot takes off, and about 500 feet up hands over control of the aircraft to you. You fly to your destination (some airspace designated for acrobatics), all the while practicing maneuvers that you’ll need during the dogfights. You set up a dog fight by flight at each other from about a mile apart. As soon as you cross, it's anything goes. Let me tell you, it's incredible. I've done this 3 times so far, and I will do more when I can afford it. There is NOTHING like it. It truly spoiled my pc gaming experience. These combat fighters are not wimpy. During my flights, we have pulled as much as 6 G’s and have performed maneuvers like rolling scissors (read: difficult). The video shows the pilot fighting hard not to pass out during some of the maneuvers (it’s much harder as a passenger…) The best part is you get the whole thing on video. There are multiple cameras (cockpit, wing, etc) and the co-pilot is getting the best view of your kills for the tape. The result is too cool. www.aircombat.com -Fu |
