Title: Nutritional therapy
Post by Callico_Kid on Jun 23rd, 2003, 4:57pm
Was contacted today concerning nutritional therapy for CH.  The premise was possible food allergy, and or heavy metal toxicity.  Sounds somewhat like snake oil to me.  Anyone know anything I should know?

thanks
jc

I may be wrong, but here's my off-the-cuff take on biological toxicity (I'm not addressing food allergy here... just toxicity):  Generally, toxicity manifests itself as wide-ranging chronic symptoms.  CH comes and goes and is relatively specific with respect to symptoms.  They would have to be some rather 'slick'  ;D heavy metal toxins to produce CH at regular intervals.  Also, those toxins would have to be quite incredible so as to produce nerve pain on only one side of yer head.  If one was to do research they would probably find that the overwhelming majority of heavy metal poisoning victims did not suffer from CH.

Just my opinion for what it's worth.

Callico_Kid,
If you take a closer look at the nutritional therapy your 'contact person' recommends, you'll probably find it helps for lots and lots of unrelated conditions: A sure fire indication of snake oil.

Nutritional therapy - in the form of tryptophan - sure;

but any kind of food allergy, that's way too 'catch-all', to non-specific to me. Besides, they want to treat something not yet identified, and that sends a definite signal, too.

The toxic idea doesn't hold water either - I have to go with Steve, one of many...here.

Snake-oil to me.  ;D

You were "contacted?"  It's been awhile but I've had several goofy therapy things in email. They must get me from the board.

Nutritional solution stuff is usually pretty iffy and most likely someone selling snake oil.

Keep your Roy Rogers wallet zipped
