Title: Any Writers out there ?
Post by dellp on Jun 18th, 2003, 1:15pm
When Gene came on-line with us there was a short flurry of talk about getting the word out about CH. I went to AARP website looking to send an email and found a link to submit articles. I submitted the requested page of information and started writing my stroy.

Since then I have realized I am not the one to be writing this article. I have been extremely fortunate in my long term battle with the Beast. I figured that in over 25 years I have had around 18 or 19 pf years. Whether because of my actions or the whimsey of the Beast is not important here; the 7-8 cycles I've been through have been short.

CH has had no effect on my professional life, virtually no effect on my work life and absolute minimal effect on my personal life. This is not a true representation of CH.

And then there's this part, being part of Clusterville. I've only been here a short time. I clearly feel the support and the caring; and while I get a definite sense of how deep and meaningful the relationships here are, that takes time. I've been here less than one month.

Someone else should write this story. As far as I can tell, AARP has never published anything about HA in general let alone about CH in particular. Click on the following link, print it and sit with it:
http://www.aarpmagazine.org/Articles/a2003-02-21-mag-writers_guidelines.html

There is a big story here and I play such a small part.
And BTW, they pay $1 per word.

Hope somebody goes for it here. I would be a great benefit to everyone here.

PFDAN to all,
Dell

You know this isn’t a bad idea and it should be done through OUCH. You’ll have to pry Bob and Don away from the OUCH yacht for their input.  I never thought of looking up AARP on line. It's a strange link by the way. It tells you it's not there but it is. There must be new stuff.

Anyway, someone who has this horror hammering away at them and making everyday life like a WWI trench battle may be the best to work on this kind of thing. There are great writers here but I'll be nice and let them decide. AARP is limited of course but there are certainly clusterheads there. I’m one, even though I’m so pretty no one can believe it.

Hah, AARP. Finally we have a way to get even with them for sending that distressing notice when we are no longer pushing 50 but pulling it. Lots of things to come to mind. Anyway, this will be an interesting thread in itself. I have to wonder if AARP would want something not specifically directed at us old crabby wizened subscribers, however. You never know. It's a nice little magazine.

It’s a nice thought too that there would be threads with everyone  bitching about the content of the article. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part.  ;)

Fire away kids.
