Title: just need to vent Post by klp on Jun 16th, 2003, 9:27pm I dont post often, mostly because i'm constantly amazed by how educated everyone is on this board and honestlly feel i dont have much to add. I just need to vent. I had my first kip 10 in 3 yrs and ended up in the e.r. tonight. unfortunatley the md on duty was a complete ass and told me all he could do was give me some tylenol and to go home and rest!!!!!!!!!!. his reasoning was since i had just taken 2 fioricet (i know not a drug of choice, but for some unknown reason has been working this cycle till now) he didnt feel i needed any more drugs and if i still didn't "feel well" in the a.m to call my doctor. What a waste of time and 50$!!!!!. Luckily i have an appoitment with a new neurologist next friday(thank you jack, there was a cancellation!) and can hopefully find a new drug regime that will help. Anyways thanks for letting me vent. im now off to write my poisen pen letter to the hospital about the incompetant piece of shit they have working in their e.r. krista |

Title: Re: just need to vent Post by don on Jun 16th, 2003, 11:01pm A healthcare facility has an ethical obligation to treat your pain. If you feel they have not done so there is recourse. http://www.jcaho.org/general+public/index.htm http://www.jcaho.org/news+room/health+care+issues/jcaho+focuses+on+pain+ management.htm |

Title: Re: just need to vent Post by Ree on Jun 17th, 2003, 11:45am Hey Kip... Dave wanted me to tell you (postin more than ever lately for him he is home recooperating from knee surgery...) He says Neurontin has been the miracle drug for him for the past 2 cycles... He started it at the beginning of his cycle in December. It stopped them in their tracks... He had never had that happen... Now they started a little early and we might not be out of the woods yet~~~ but when you go to the Neuro get a preventative... remember Fioricette sometimes gives you rebounds too I take that for my M headaches... some doctors are idiots... we found that out recently when we took our daughter to the neuro... Kids shouldnt get headaches... the guy was an idiot and acted like he never heard of CH and he was a well known kids specialist. Take care Ree |

Title: Re: just need to vent Post by vig on Jun 17th, 2003, 4:11pm I was thinking of collecting the misdiagnosis horror stories and presenting them to the doctors at the convention so they really see what they've been doing and feel the impact that years of doctor-ignorance does to people. The medical world HAS dropped the ball on this one and I think we can use this to "nudge" them in the proper direction. -p my $.02 |

Title: Re: just need to vent Post by klp on Jun 17th, 2003, 5:00pm vig, that would make a great book!, prior to being diagnosed i was told the pain came from" 1. cavities in my teeth and the pain was being referred to my eye. 2. eye strain (have 20/20 vision) 3 stress 4. B-12 deficiency 5. migraines 6.lack of oxygen from smoking and my personal favorite. "we all get headaches from time to time" krista |

Title: Re: just need to vent Post by MarkHW on Jun 18th, 2003, 9:53am What an idiot! That Dr. should be tied down and have an electric drill applied to his head. Then told to take a couple tylenol. Sorry, but this kind of treatment is soooo frustrating. Mark |

Title: Re: just need to vent Post by Jim R on Jun 18th, 2003, 10:01am Some doctors can be drones. Those of us who work with them can attest to this. Listen to Don. They have an obligation to treat your pain. Frankly, I wouldn't pay the bill for medical treatment of Tylenol. Try Don's JCAHO link. Unfortunately not all hospitals are JCAHO accredited, but there are state authorities that license the hospitals that can if this is the case. Good luck with your CH's and at the neuro's. Jim R |

I would apply the drill somewhere else on the lovely doctor....but, that's just me :o. Sorry you are having a bad time krista, give 'em hell. Maybe if more people would send in letters (actually DO something about incompetence), it would make a difference. Good luck with the neuro and a drug regime. Hope you find something that works.
