Post by Mccarke on Jun 16th, 2003, 12:21pm
WOW i do remember back when these monster hit me at the age of 14yrs old im 40 mow 28 years ago.  My mom would rush me to the hospital they would treat me for migraine's, most the meds they treated migraine with would make a CH more powerful and thought my head was coming off.  It took a move to texas and good talk with my family doctor he asked me if i ever heard of cluther Headache then asked if ive ever tried oxygen, when i tried it,,, first words out my mouth was ((THERE IS A GOD :'())

Does anyone know of an age CH to stop cuz ive been having some odds cycles i got skip by last year with no cycles at all that the first time thats happen.  This year cycles killed me hard and fast now it gone...  I would like hear some odds storys from ya'll...

Thanks God for this website i have learned more from here then any doctor!

Thanks Kevin :) ;) :D ;D :P

I've heard of a few on the MB that have had lengthy remissions, but I don't think there is a magic age where they just go away.

I'm thinking that the "dirt nap" is the ultimate cure.

Hello Kevin  ;D, reading your story I had a flash back of about 10 yr. when I had the first “eye-aches” (I called then so, really it was CH). After having be diagnosed by Doctors  as an “imaginary ill”, an intelligent Doctor told to my parents that I had CH, and it started the difficult living with CH... me too I was 14 yrs. old...  >:(

I wish you are pain free all the time and to be good,

stay hard  ;D,

Zaira  ;)

I have been in the dark, bad place where the "dirt nap" don't sound too bad....know what I mean? I never would....but the thought has crossed my mind at certain times. I bet most of us have had that thought too...eh?

I'm in kinda the same place the you were. I'm 15, just diagnosed, CH for 2nd year. My doctor has said that they can go away eventually, and that the younger CHs start, the sooner they typically go away. Of course, then said that usually doesnt happened and told me about the 104 year-old clusterhead. I have been using imitrex injections to abort; does oxygen really work that well? fast? convienient? Hope you have a permanent remission.

25 years and counting for me. I was 13 when they started.  This is my first cycle in 3 years though - I guess that's a good sign since it is double the remission I ever had before.  I heard (here maybe ??  I can't remember) that menopause helps.  I wish you could go into menopause Kevin :lol

Dirt nap  ;D  that made me laugh!

I joined the Force at around 20.   Had all wisdom teeth surgically removed.   The reason this is a mental tag for me is because not long after, I thought that maybe the doc's had stuck a tube too far up my nose.   That feeling of clear cold air going up your nose and into your head just at the onset of a shadow.

Dirt Nap= Worm Hotel?

Lots of 20 year olds seem to get this horror.  I was 23 in 1969 when this thing make itself known. Afterwards, it showed up most of the time in fall and spring for a few weeks and then split. With very few exceptions this went on until 1991 when I was 45. They haven't been around for 12 years now and another century will be fine with me.

There is some sketchy evidence that age can have an effect on CH but nothing definite. Mine lasted 22 years and I can find no satisfactory answer as to why they disappeared.

Anyway, there are now better ways than ever to handle this thing. Still, we all feel that we were born too soon.

Take care and stick around. Your new blood is welcome.

Charlie

Hey ab15 nice to meet you!!!  The oxygen does work great if you catch the CH when it first starts oxygen will kill it, sometimes it takes awhile. Also its a real pain in the BUTT hauling a oxygen tank every where you go, have everyone look at you like your crazy walking back and forth with your head look down to the ground screeming and yell, sometimes the oxygen doesnt work fast enough for me. The imitrex has really worked great for me also its faster and easier to hide  :)
