Dont see a single line warning any sufferer to "be carefull what you say.......professionals might be watching" So to the newbies......If you have something to say.......SAY IT........and dont be intimidated by anything that infers that this site is for or about anything but sufferers/supporters and our trials and tribulations |

Title: Re: New Vistors Page Post by Jackie on Jun 13th, 2003, 10:48am Don, I read your/the above quote and agree fully. :) Now can you find me a quote were it is stated that this site is for practicing a*shole-ism, vulgarity, personal attacks and rude insulting behavior ::) True...this site was created for clusterhead and their supporters.... a place for them to get acquainted, exchange information, rant, etc. However, I don't find where professionals have been banned. Should they come here (I know for a fact that some do/have) and read some of this shit they would think we were all a bunch of fuckin' nuts....candidates for Jerry Srpinger and not Oprah. I've been in my share of flame wars, bullshit posts, etc....and I truly believe that a good "knock down drag out" is good once in awhile (keeps the board rockin')...but I still believe there should be a thought process/feeling that bad behavior is the exception around here rather than the rule. Now...shut up, Don...and no sassin'... ;D or I'm gonna tell on ya... :-* Jacks 8) |

Title: Re: New Vistors Page Post by Jimi on Jun 13th, 2003, 11:19am Hi Jacks! I gotta agree with you. Nobody used to pick anymore than me. But it was always in good fun. And if I found out that I had hurt someones feelings, I would usually apoligize. Over the last few months, the tone on some posts have gotten past the teasing to posts that I could only catagorize as mean. Many on here have a few beers and I sometimes wonder if the person is half lit and wouldn't be saying some of the things they have said sober. Anyway, these are apparentely feelings that many have that are registered on here. But hey, it ain't my board and I love the guy who owns it, so what do I know? I don't posts too often but I read it daily. But then, neither does DJ so I guess it is ok. Have fun at the convention. I know you will. ;) |

Title: Re: New Vistors Page Post by Margi on Jun 13th, 2003, 11:29am Rockin post, Jackie - as always. :) I need to repeat a point I've enjoyed making (ad nauseum) over the years though... ;D I mean, really - why WOULD a doctor take the time to read these conversations between sufferers and supporters? Sure we do come up with some new research stuff here on the board, but it's real rare anymore, (even though Curtis has been doing some yeoman service in that regard lately) it's mostly just gossip/personal stuff here. Not that there's anything wrong with that - last time I checked, THAT's the purpose of a message board. Wouldn't the doctors be reading the buttons to the left? Wouldn't they show up here more from a researchers point of view, rather than a party-goer/flamer/support needer? The message board is only one button in a sea of many. Unless they are psychiatrists (or scouts for Jerry's show), why would they bother to read the message board at all? If they've got time to dig through and read post after post after post, their patient load must be non-existant. That's never a good sign with a doctor. :-/ |

Title: Re: New Vistors Page Post by CJohnson on Jun 13th, 2003, 11:37am Whoa, there's a visitor's page? I must have overlooked it and proceeded directly to posting nonsense and wild speculation. Margi, I know a lot of words, but not "yeomen". I'm scared to look it up. :) PFDANs -Curtis |

Title: Re: New Vistors Page Post by Elaine on Jun 13th, 2003, 11:41am I agree with both of you Jackie and Margi. A lot of people say OUCH is the place doctors and people who want information should be. Most everything on OUCH doctors already know. If they keep up with things they should. If I was a doctor I would want to know what is going on with THE people getting hit. I would come here myself. For people who are getting hit and in cycle that just find us, we all know finding people is more important than any information we can get. Most all of us were told clusters are rare, and not many of us ever talked to another who had this pain. My biggest problem with dealing with clusters before I found this site was thinking I was nuts, and that the doctors were missing something. It eased my mind finding this place and made it much easier to deal. You two rock as always ! |

Title: Re: New Vistors Page Post by Jackie on Jun 13th, 2003, 11:46am I agree with you, Margi. I highly doubt that the medical professionals would spend countless hours checking out the message board. One of my concerns is the media. We've tried and tried to get some recognition from talk shows, newpapers, TV news....anyone that will give us any space. I've wondered...should we get their attention where would it lead .....my thinking is they might want to get a feel for who we are and check us out on a more personal level...re: the board. Hell....what do I know ??? I just think we need to behave a little better(not all the time...I love some of the controversy ;D)...just in case...and not to mention how it makes some members of the family feel. :-/ Jacks 8) Oh, just one more thing...I'm proud to call you two ladies my friends :) You too, Jimi... ;) |

Title: Re: New Vistors Page Post by Elaine on Jun 13th, 2003, 11:58am Maybe the midia has already been here and read the board, could be why we are not getting anywhere. If you was a talk show host and open this message board what would you think? I would think we were all nuts! internet groupies!!!! |

Title: Re: New Vistors Page Post by Margi on Jun 13th, 2003, 3:57pm OK, Curtis you freaked me out with your post!! Made me figure I screwed up the usage of the word. I stumped YOU?? But..nope, I used it right. It means 'ya done good, kid'. "Yeoman: performed diligently: characterized by loyalty, diligence, and reliability performed yeoman service in completing the task on time" so, there ya go. Too cool. I got one over on Dr. Thought. Life is good. ;) |

Maybe the first time I have ever disagreed with you E. If this were true things would be different. Mis-diagnosis is becoming more rare because this MB and OUCH is educating Clusterheads AND doctors. There are still a bunch of horror storys about continued mis-diagnosis for long periods of time. on 06/13/03 at 11:41:52, Elaine wrote:

Title: Re: New Vistors Page Post by Callico_Kid on Jun 13th, 2003, 10:40pm Great post Don. Was away yesterday and almost missed it. I don't think the media people would be put off by what they would find if they actually deigned to look here. This board is obviously personal communication on a public scale. This part of CH.com is not intended for to be taken seriously by anyone other than those of us who are here and need it. Personally I find it to be a haven at night while fighting this thing. |

Title: Re: New Vistors Page Post by Elaine on Jun 14th, 2003, 10:21am LOL Mark, I can see you have not read all my post if this is the only one you disgree with :-)! I should have worded that a little better. We use to have a Doc Greg that posted on here. He has been missed. I am not sure if he still reads the board or not. I know he moved. It would be nice to have a Doctor posting again. Then again I bet he couldn't stand it cause we would all email him for sure LOL! Disagreeing with me is cool...I don't learn a lot from people who always agree with me. I learn more from people who disagree. I am always willing to learn. hugs your way! E |
