Title: Bend, Baby Post by barbee on Jun 11th, 2003, 6:35am URLURL After waking up at 4:00AM with a screaming #8 I got up,took two Excedrin. ate a cracker, and drank a quart of water. The screaming got louder and I thought My head would explode. I put an ice pack on top, and leaned forward, face down facing the floor. Suddenly the pain lessened. I held that position for 10 minutes, and the pain went down to a 4, then 3. Right now it's about a 2. Lying down is a bad thing. Leaning forward is a good thing. Try it. :) :) :) |

Title: Re: Bend, Baby Post by BobG on Jun 11th, 2003, 7:08am Glad you found something to lessen the pain. For me I have to be standing straight and tall or if sitting I have to be straight up, head held high and breathing as deep as possible. There is no laying down, no bending over or even close to it during an attack. |

Title: Re: Bend, Baby Post by Margi on Jun 11th, 2003, 8:55am well, IMHO, it was probably the combo of the water and ice that helped abort this particular attack. I've seen that happen for Mike. Sometimes copious amounts of water can fool the attack - or drown it, I guess. I've, however, also seen him abort an attack by brushing his teeth! LOL 'Tis a strange thing, this Clusterbeast. Glad you found relief. I guess doing a Gumby impression could also help take some pressure off your sinuses...er...sinusi? |

Pain went from an 8 to a 2? Doesn't sound like CH to me (IMHO). But, what do I know. Whatever works. Good luck & I hope it gets better for you. Ya never know, maybe this "bend" thing will work for others. If at least 1 person is helped, the post is well worth it. Thanks barbee. |

Title: Re: Bend, Baby Post by barbee on Jun 11th, 2003, 10:00am Hey, I've had CH for 13 years, so I should know what they are. Well, maybe it was time for the Beast to move on...the #8 seemed like it lasted forever. Anyway, the departure took place while analyzing the carpeting. And about numbers....to me an 8 is a pain that makes me moan, groan, bang my head, and pray to die on the spot. So what is a #10 like? ??? |

Title: Re: Bend, Baby Post by Roxy on Jun 11th, 2003, 11:10am barbee, I also usually end up on my knees, bent over, banging my head on the floor, table, cabinet, etc......whatever ends up between my head and the floor. I pace and pace until it becomes too much, then I hit my knees. on 06/11/03 at 10:00:31, barbee wrote:
I found this quote in the archives, it's a pretty good description. I know I've hit a 10 when I can smash my head on a pipe fence, and it feels damn GOOD. on 10/17/02 at 02:10:10, F1World wrote:

Title: Re: Bend, Baby Post by gene on Jun 12th, 2003, 1:20am yeh, I doubt if the excedrin did much, sometimes mine just go away faster?? Sometimes 10 minutes/ Usually I attribute that to my ice and hot water treatment early. But now I have plenty of imitrex shots in my fridge, and if one comes I'll zap it!! Gene |
