Title: I thought I had found my cure -- but... Post by echo on Jun 10th, 2003, 9:00am I was wrong. Last Wednesday AM (2:30) the SOB woke me up with a nasty little dance. While pacing, rocking, swearing and begging with the normal right eye going nuts I felt something strange in the inside corner of my eye. I could not see well enough or sit still enough to find out what it was but was concerned. Once I had the CH aborted and was able to see I stared in the mirror and noticed what looked like a hair going into my eye socket. I got ahold of it with a tweezer and started to extract it. That hair was as white as could be and measured 16 1/2 inches long after I got done pulling it out. I thought I was pulling my eye out at times. My eye was pissed for a couple of days afterwards. I thought -- could it be that what I have been suffering for years was caused by that hair. I hoped it was. This morning at 2:30 I found out differently. CRAP!! Where the hell did that hair come from? |

It was actually a bottom eye lash that grew inward for years. (doubtful, should have caused an infection long before now) B. During the dance I normally grind the hell out of my eye from time to time. I may have picked up a hair from somewhere and ground in behind my eye. (She tought she was reaching on this one) C. Late last summer I had a nasty fall while water skiing, High rate of speed, hit really hard, had water coming out of places it shouldn't. Could have possibly forced a chunk of light weight fishing line or long blond hair behind my eye. Whereas, I was on eye drops to combat the lake water that was leaking from behind my eyes their is the possibility that the drugs killed any possible infection and it just took time to work to the surface. In any event -- it's out, I still have CH. Option 4 - jonny snuck into my basement while I was dancing, disguised as the beast, and crammed a blonde hair into my eye for grins. |

Gotta admire a guy that it just isn't enough to have it occur, but then actually want to see how durn big it was. Third ... what!? no pictures? Are you having it mounted to hang over the mantle? :P Fourth ... I would have guessed it as a parasite rather than a simple hair. Did your doc actually take a look at it under the microscope? Not a parasite! Drum roll; white filament similar to that used in the construction of ropes for use in and around water. Not a fishing line. Probably came off a ski or anchor rope. Small piece that was floating and when I hit the water last year I must have been fortunate enough to send that behind my eye rather that a walleye. Eye drops to combat the potential lake water nastys must have worked to keep the infection out. Did notice my eye watered much more often last winter and this spring. Finally worked it's way out. Didn't hurt coming out -- just felt weird as all hell. There you have it folks. Not a little beasty. And for that I feel one heck of alot better. |

Secondly, did a little research and it turns out the Loa Loa parasite is called the african eye worm not because it only lives in the eye. It is only VISABLE in the eye as it actually lives UNDER thin skin (first layer of eyball is thin). Sooooo, the picture is a Loa Loa UNDER the first layer of the eyeball and this person was actually loaded with Loa Loas. Not to mention that the adult Loa has thousands of offspring that circulate through ones blood stream just waiting for a Masquito (sp) to care it to a new host. Now, lets talk about earwigs. Post by PINKY BABY on Jun 12th, 2003, 4:24pm :o don't be so suprised about an ingrown hair of any length, color, or location. i had a girl fried that thought she had a cyst on her lower back, and when the dr tried to localized it and lance it. they found it was a deep embede ingrown hair. they did surgery, and to find out, it was over 2 feet long, and it had been growing and it wraped around her spinal cord. she had to lay on her stomach with an open incision in her back for two months in the hospital, so the flluid from the incision would not build up on her splinal cord and do damage. she was 16 at the time, and she is recovered now. so don't let anything about the body suprise you. after all, we al have a beast that lives inside our head. so you are getting hit so hard. pinky |
