Title: vision loss Post by nan on Jun 9th, 2003, 11:19pm Hello there, This is my first time writing. My husband has had bad headaches for the last month and a half. The university health center doctors said that it was just sinuses....so we wait....finally we decided to go to the doctor because the pain was getting worse. So far the CAT scan was negative, SED rate Ok, and eye doc said everything was okay except for the fact he doesn't see things on the right side of his right and left eye. This has been going on for 3 days. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE VISION LOSS FOR MORE THAN A DAY OR TWO???? The doctors are so confusing, I know they are trying to rule out tumors, and other possiable causes...i just feel so helpless and we just got started ??? Oh, he is on Perecet (I probably spelled that wrong I'm so tired from lack of sleep and too much worrying). Please respond if you have had vision difficulties as long as this thanks nan |

Title: Re: vision loss Post by Callico_Kid on Jun 10th, 2003, 12:13am Nan, I can't speak to the vision loss problem. That doesn't sound CH related to me, but I'm no expert. (Neither are most Docs) You didn't mention any other symptoms. Read as much information as you can here and on the OUCH site, print out any pertinant info that you feel would be helpful to your Dr. Take the cluster quiz on the left. Don't feel badly about your needing help. That is why we are here. Hopefully, it is not CH, but I hope we can help you find the answers you need. Praying for both of you. jc PS If you will describe more of his symptoms, meds used, etc. we will be able to be more informative. |

Title: Re: vision loss Post by katethecelt on Jun 10th, 2003, 12:38am Nan, I've never had vision loss with CH. You could check for this side effect for any meds or tests your husband has/had. The WebMd web site will have info. The type of vision loss you are describing does occur with migraines (for some people). It's called "tunnel vision". I hope you and your husband find answers and help soon. Read the info Calico Kid talked about. Thoughts & Prayers to you, Kate |

Title: Re: vision loss Post by Tom on Jun 10th, 2003, 5:17pm Hi nan, the described symptoms certainly don't match with cluster headaches, but they perfectly match with Bickerstaff's Syndrome = Basilar Artery Migraine, BAM - unfortunately in your husband's case BAM may have caused an occipital stroke with a homonymous hemianopsia. For more informations read: http://s-2000.com/bam/bam_basics.html Bickerstaff's Syndrome (Basilar Artery Migraine, BAM) ...symptoms of Basilar Artery Migraine that are actually symptoms of vertebrobasilar ischemia (lack of blood and inadequate oxygenation of the posterior part of the brain)... http://www.lowvision.org/new_page_1hemi.htm Pure occiptal lobe stroke, affecting the part of the brain that processes vision may result in a homonymous hemianopsia without any other impairment or paralysis. http://www.abledata.com/text2/NIRE/Hemianopsia.htm http://www.acbvi.org/albums/Vision/ Wish you and your husband ATB !
