I've had a lot of time to do that, being home with my husband who is really sick. Lots of you know that my husband has been sick, and some of you don't. For those of you who don't know me ; I have been married to a wonderful guy for 24 years. He suffers from HepC. He is currently unable to work due to his condition. While most HepC victims enjoy life and never even know they have the disease, others suffer liver failure and die. That's the facts of life. My husband drew the unlucky straw, or at least that is how it seems up to this point. Our most resent battle is that not only is his liver failing but his spleen is failing as well. Ah, but life goes on, and we have grown accustomed to that. You learn to live one day at a time and in some ways, we are luckier than most. We appreciate every day, and I thank God and friends for that. Anyways, the purpose of this email is to let you guys know that there is a new HepC bill up for a vote. Many of you probably know someone with HepC. If you want to help this bill get passed, you can send a letter (snail mail , do not email) to your representatives. I am posting a link in case you don't know who to send the letter to. I am also attaching a copy of my husband's letter so you know how we truly feel. Email to find out who to mail your letter to : www.congress.org You must mention the bill # Bill SB1143 in your letter. Here is Red's letter: May 28, 2003 Senator Rick Santorum 511 Dirksen Senate Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510-3804 The Honorable Senator Santorum: I write to respectfully request your support for passage of Bill SB1143, also known as The Hepatitis C Epidemic Control and Prevention Act. The statistics of 3,000,000 known infected persons is conservative, yet staggering. More frightening are the number of unknown infected persons. Viral Hepatitis C is the leading cause of liver transplants each year. It is estimated that 8,000 persons are currently waiting for liver transplants. Most disheartening is the death rate of 8,000 to 10,000 persons per year due to complications resulting from this disease. I am infected and very concerned about what we, as a nation, are facing with Hepatitis C Virus. We are losing our jobs and insurance coverage. Social Security has made it difficult as well for people who have contracted the disease and are enduring life-long after effects. Employees who have contracted HCV in the workplace are treated unfairly when the burden of proof is placed on them in order to receive compensation for negligent working conditions. There will come a day when we will need the assistance from hospitals, medical workers, law enforcement personnel and emergency technicians who will fear providing us their services. There are countless issues that must be addressed concerning the Hepatitis C Virus and the results thereof. The passing of this most important Bill is a step in the right direction and will open doors for those infected to address their needs. Scoring a victory in this fight will bring forth awareness, education, support and necessary changes. I am a statistic in your district being infected myself. I am also a statistic because my infection has advanced to final stages requiring a transplant to save my life. My prayers are also with you. This brings to mind our Sailpappy and I wonder how he is doing. Has anyone heard from him? |

Was getting some shadows the other night .... geez, I laid down scared as shit, and prayed !!! Woke up the next morning and decided that Jonny had probably just given me a migraine !!!! LOL. Love ya Jonny ... but I love that I didn't get hit even more. Some things are better than even the best man !!!!!!! LOL. Thanks for all the letters everyone ...........
