Title: Who's Post by Donna on May 21st, 2003, 8:17am your Hero in Clusterville? ??? We all have one (or more). Let's recognize them for their good attributes. Maybe we should make catagories, because I have a bunch of Heros for different reasons. I think I'll go make a list now. Hope you all have a pain free day! 8) |

Title: Re: Who's Post by Margi on May 21st, 2003, 9:09am Wow, Donna - that's a thinker. Top of my list would have to be Elaine. she's like that damned Energizer Bunny. The traumas my twisted sister has survived with a smile never cease to amaze me. She just radiates goodness - Buddy's post the other day really captured her spirit. The woman goes dumpster diving to find unopened cans of food to feed the homeless! :o (ooooh, she's gonna kill me for that one!) Next would be Ted. Ted is chronic and gets hit real hard but...has he ever come here and mentioned that? It's like pulling teeth trying to get him to talk about his pain but you won't find a better friend who always has time to listen to you talk about yours. Ted is a rock. Third, but first in a lot of ways is Jackie. My mind just can't wrap around what it means to be a supporter to a chronic sufferer. Jackie just takes it all in stride when Blake's cycles peak and he's getting hit a million times a day. Quiet strength and class personified, that's my friend Jackie. Her pain is always put on the back burner and she is always first on the scene with a hug or an encouragement for anyone who needs it. Linda Howell is right up there too...as are Piper, Den, Georgia, Slammy, BobP, and YOU, Donna! Last, but never least, are the real-life supporters - each and every one of them - they all give ME strength and courage to carry on. Firebrix, Cootie, Ree, Cathy, Deb Lovejoy, Bonnie Woods, Monique....the list is long - I learn so much from you all. Thank you for all that you do. Oh yeah - some guy called DJ made my list, too. ;) |

Title: Re: Who's Post by JDH on May 21st, 2003, 11:08am After DJ I would have to say Mastiff & 'Bama. They are the first people I met when I came on board and they kind of got me educated as far as what to ask & tell the Dr. thanks for all of your input Mast & 'Bama, at the time it meant a lot! ;) Another hero in my book would have to be Woobie. She has organized the meeting of a few clusterheads this weekend in Chicago. It'll be my first time in 18 yrs of this crap that I've actually met another clusterhead in person so I'm really looking forward to this...stay tuned, updates to follow. Thanks again Tina ;D pfdan's Jim |

Title: Re: Who's Post by Elaine on May 21st, 2003, 4:58pm Outside of Buddy and my family! I would say ! First is more than one person! DJ, Margi, Jackie, Jonny, and Bob P, and Jack B, Michelle and Marc. DJ not around a lot but he is always around when I need him. Always has time and a encourging word. I can't forget the day he sat be hind me rocked with me through a cluster. A hard thing for a cluster head to do. DJ always was stright with me and he kicked my butt a few times, I needed it, he is just a wonderful supporter. Margi, she has been my supporter through every thing. Always there, she is a true friend. Even durning a misunderstanding she was here for me. She and I have been through a lot together. I include Mike in on this. Margi was with me on IM durning the day, when clusters had me so depressed. Mike he was here for me at night. Their humor and prayers and some hard pushing saw me through some really hard times. After three long years she and I meet just to find out we are both really twisted. Jackie, she took me under her gun slinging wings and she just knows when I need her. She has always had good advice and she as Margi has laughted with me and cried with me. There were times she had to pull me up. That lady has sure kept the phone company from going under. Jackie even took me on a relaxing trip to her moms Jack B someone who always made me feel like I was needed and that I was somebody. Bob P someone who gave me hope, he gave me lots of work to do for OUCH to keep my mind off my troubles. A real slave driver, a real life saver :-)!He gave me a hug in Atlanta he promised me Jonny...Hard core...cusses like a sailor...tells it like he sees it...but you know what he has a heart of Gold. He calls me when I am down send a hug when I need it. He stands beside not in front or behind me. He is just special. Marc a friend that always has time someone thats there no matter what. Michelle, she works undercover and is always on IM for me at night. Always finds time to give that smile of hers to me. I have many more that have always been here for me! I can't name them all as no one can cause there are just to many... Donna, Mia, Hub, Judy, Cathy, Pep, Edna. Ree, Cat, Roxy, Mike, Hub, Ken, Barbara, Jane, Jayne, Linda H. and the list just goes on and on and on! |

Title: Re: Who's Post by Jackie on May 21st, 2003, 8:25pm Wow....where do I start with this one, Donna? There are several people who are heros in my book.... People who have been there for Blake and I. People who have fought and won hard battles of their own. Elaine....my dear sweet friend... who has been my friend from almost day one. Without her help and advice I couldn't have been nearly as much help to my husband with the "beast battle". We've been through deaths and births, ups and downs, good times and bad. She's a fine lady with a heart of gold. Margi...thank you for the kind words. I feel very flattered and humbled. Margi has also been there to help with everything from Blake's horrible cycles to sending words of wisdom to get me through some tough times. She is THE SUPPORTER of all supporters and clusterheads alike. Jonny...now there's a "piece of work" and I love him dearly. He's called and talked to Blake during some really bad times....those calls kept us going more than once. Don't let him fool ya....he'd do anything for the deserving...he'd kill you if ya deserved that too.. ;D NancyC....she's been there with pep talks and help even when she was having terrible times herself. She's one kind hearted and giving person. Don...he's been through hell and back himself but still manages to hang in here with us....working for the "cause". Thank you Don. Donna....sweet Donna. Imagine what it must be like to have suffered clusters yourself and then watch/support your son through the battle. There are sooooo many...BobP, Paco (damn I miss him), Drummer, Ueli, The MOBster....on and on it goes. Actually, anyone who suffers this terrible affliction or supports a suffer is a hero. Jacks 8) |

Title: Re: Who's Post by Callico_Kid on May 21st, 2003, 11:02pm I haven't been here long enough to really know much of who is who, but you are all hero's in my book because you have taken the time to help those of us who are just learning what is going on in our heads. DJ for sure for providing this haven, and Elaine for being there for all of us even though you have gone through more than most could stand. Your faith shows through. Jonny has been a real help to me with O2. Charlie, even though he has been PF has stayed around and encouraged. Now I'm going to leave a lot of people out, just because your names aren't coming right to mind at the moment. Those of you who are in leadership positions I really appreciate you. I honestly don't know what I would have done had I not found this board and OUCH. Thanks from the bottom of my heart from a newbie that is a veteran just because he talks a lot. Jerry |

Title: Re: Who's Post by nancyann on May 22nd, 2003, 9:18am I have to say that being quite new here, each and every one of you in some way has touched my life in the short time I have been coming here. I have read many posts which have brought many tears, smiles, goosebumps, frowns and grunts to my eyes, mouth and voice. I have understood your feeling and felt your emotions and felt as though I have known some of you if not all of you most of my life. You have been the hand up I have needed on some of my most difficult days. You have given me hope when I though all was lost. I have been able to turn to all of you when I needed a reminder that I was not alone. When I have been on the edge of sanity you have been the strong link, keeping me from falling over the edge. All of you are my hero!!! And for that I wish to that EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!!! |

Title: Re: Who's Post by CLR on May 22nd, 2003, 9:19am When I first found out I had clusters I was in bad shape I didn't know what too expect, there was a very special Lady that helped me understand what was next in the pain of hell. That was Kim!!! If it hadn't been for her I think I would have lost my mind. Or maybe I have who knows. LOL!!! Than came so many supporters Nancy, Opus, Catnip who takes her time to help others, she puts a smile on my face. I know there are even more to name. Hard to have just one. Thanks from the bottom of my heart, Yes I have tears right about now. Pf days too all, Cindra |

Title: Re: Who's Post by Charlie on May 22nd, 2003, 3:27pm It has to be DJ who puts up with this bunch and does all the work. He has the patience of Job. It’s likely that without Jonny, I wouldn’t have stuck around, for several reasons-not all CH related. What can I say Edna? Don’t know what I’d do without all the abuse I get here. Cheaper than the dominatrix dot coms too :D :o http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/WHIP SMILEY.gif Charlie 8) |

Title: Re: Who's Post by Linda_Howell on May 22nd, 2003, 4:14pm DJ of course. That's a "given" Margi and everyone on the supporters corner. Now here's where it gets tough.....I don't want to name too many names for fear of embarrassing anyone. All those who e-mailed me when I was incognito because they were worried. Charlie, for even being here when he hasn't been hit for a long time. and for posting his method which has relieved many of my HA's Drummer. who was the first person I talked to here and actually gave me his work/home number to call him. the several people who helped me in person when I was getting hit..... 1. and carried me to my room to get 02 2. The person who gave up an e-tank of his and paced with me. 3. the person who put pillows in front of my head to keep me from bashing it into a piece of furniture. 4. two of you in particular who call and e-mail me at the exact right time.......with words of real wisdom 5. The person who sent me Imitrex. Elaine of course for too many reasons to mention here....and the rest of you for comic relief sometimes and for being here day after day to help others. LindaH |

Title: Re: Who's Post by Ueli on May 22nd, 2003, 8:38pm My vote for the greatest supporter (but not necessarily a hero) goes to terrylch, for his unrelenting support of the often bashed Subluxationskill. Also, it is a good idea to be on good terms with terrylch, he has a direct connection to the highest authority: Quote:

Title: Re: Who's Post by Linda_Howell on May 22nd, 2003, 10:51pm and that's O.K. my ts.........oh. for those of you who don't know......there are 3 of us "twisted sisters" Elaine, and me and...... and the most important part of this silliness is...we have all been here for each other. And yeah...we're also VERY twisted....Ted? shut-up. lol Elaine, not to mention what you've done for OUCH..for the convention in Atlanta.....for all that you do. When Elaine got to our room in Vancouver she had all these suit-cases and I swore we were only gonna be there for a few days........I was so confused. Then she got busy.......O.K. she said. Now fill these packages. The pkgs. were spread all over the room. Gum, candy, printed stuff, etc. etc... yeah.......Elaine is my hero. Even if she laughed at me a few times. o.k.........a lot. But I will never forget laughing at those guys guys in the Parking lot......and you and me and Bama... Sorry didn't mean to go on. not even gonna sign this I'm tearing up............ |

Title: Re: Who's Post by Roxy on May 23rd, 2003, 5:48am A hero: a person who is admired for having done something very brave or having achieved something great. This, or course, would be DJ. IMHO, he has achieved something great with this board. The other half of the definition is a little harder. My heroes are those who are chronic, and live with this affliction day in and day out. But they live it with grace and dignity; making the most of their PF time. It is an amazing thing to see them use some of that precious time here on the board, helping others. They come to give support, laughter….whatever is needed; never knowing how one word or one post can help someone it wasn’t even directed to. They don’t worry about receiving something from others….they are here to give to others. My heroes are those who are episodic. Having a recent stretch of PF days, my respect for the episodics here has grown exponentially in relationship to the number of days that I have felt good. Chronics can build up a mental and pain tolerance to the beast, because we know he is going to be in our lives come hell or high water. The absolute fear I have felt at the thought of the ch’s coming back, shows me the type of mental toughness that the episodics need to survive. My heroes are the supporters who give unselfishly of themselves to those who need them. Their hurt is silent and unrelenting…..it is a hurt of love and helplessness over which they have no control. They live knowing and experiencing the pain of their partner, and then still come to the board with the fortitude to help others. This shows a depth of character that you don’t see very often, but we see it daily on the board. My heroes are the many people on this board who have given me so many things, with no expectations of anything in return. The woman who first took me under her wing when I arrived here, the friends who tried so hard to help me hook up with 02. As long as I live, I’ll never forget Not4Hire telling me to use a damn ziplock as a mask....LOL. The friends who sent me masks and meds unselfishly. The friends who seem to be just waiting for me online when I need to talk. Those whose posts made me just roll with laughter in the middle of the night, when all seemed to be dark. Those whose phone calls seem to come at the exact instant that I need to hear an understanding voice, and then they have the audacity to make me smile and feel good again!! So many people who have bravely opened themselves up to others, and have given of themselves freely. I could never list just a few heroes. On this board, there are too many to count. |
||
Title: Re: Who's Post by suzy617 on May 23rd, 2003, 5:57am Very well put Roxy. I could never just name a few. So many have helped me out whether just by reading their posts or messaging me when I needed help or just someone to talk to. So I'd say that everybody here are my heroes in one catorgory or another. Suzy |

Title: Re: Who's Post by Edna on May 23rd, 2003, 6:10am LINDA.......how dare you think I'd forget you.....pay attention chicky.......your name was on the first post here I did....... SEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeee LOL Luv ya much dear, EDNA |

Title: Re: Who's Post by Mark C on May 23rd, 2003, 5:46pm Hero (http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=hero) is a mighty big title to live up to....I have never considered myself heroic in any way, however, after being here a while I know quite a few Heros......and you know who you are. My opinion of some of you has changed since I first arrived here....many hours in the archives has painted a more accurate picture of you guys than just reading a few posts can convey. I am forever connected to ALL of you......thank you DJ for making heros avaliable to me! PFDAN's Mark PS-Ditto Roxy! |
