Title: Anxiety disorders Post by aprilbee on May 20th, 2003, 9:27am I was doing some reasearch for a doctor's appointment this morning, and I discovered something very interesting. I read on a medical website that people who suffer from epsodic CH can also suffer from anxiety disorders in between periods. The site said that it is caused from basically wandering about and waiting for the next cycle to start!! I know that I definately suffer from this, I am in a remission period right now and nervous, nervous all the time! I never associated it with CH, but now it has me thinking. I was just curious if anyone else here can relate, I know its hard to be around me when I am in a cycle, but I sometimes feel like its worse when I'm between cycles because I am sooooooooo anxious all the time. Input is welcomed and appreciated. PFDAN to all! |

Title: Re: Anxiety disorders Post by brain_cramps on May 20th, 2003, 9:38am April: Interesting point. Luckily, I don't have a problem with that. Do you have a link to the site? I'm sure a lot of others would find it interesting. Living every PF day to its fullest (as much as financially possible ;)), grant 8) |

Title: Re: Anxiety disorders Post by TomM on May 20th, 2003, 4:08pm Yes, I retracted my previous post because it did not read correctly. What I mean is I do see a correlation bewteen anxiety and CH's but certainly do not believe there is a causation of CH's from anxiety or vice versa. My humble opinion. Do I get anxious when I cycle? You bet! And for many reasons: 1) Prednisone 2) Fear of unkown. 3) Wait time for next hit. 4) Exhaustion form previous hit(s). I have an Rx for Valium just for these reasons. TomM |

Title: Re: Anxiety disorders Post by oringkid on May 20th, 2003, 6:26pm I have suffered from Panic Attacks for quite a few years, but I had CH long before that. Before panic attacks, I had TMJ. I don't think (my opinion only) that CH causes Panic attacks in everyone (although I can see where it might) I don't think my panic attacks had anything to do with CH. HOWEVER! There may be some connection in serotonin, or the N chemical... can't remember the name. When I was diagnosed with clinical depression, my doc tried a few different meds. The first meds dealt soley with serotonin. The one that finally worked (like a miracle drug!) for me was Wellbutrin which acted on the N chemical more than the seratonin (is it seratonin or serotonin??) Even though my depression was "cured" I continued to occasionally suffer from panic attacks. But I never saw a correlation between them and my CH. I used to use xanax to control my panic attacks, but a couple of years ago, I found a website that helped me learn to deal with them without drugs. It helped me immeasurably. I still get them, but they don't bother me like they used to. But they truly seem random to me. I have never had a specific "trigger" for them. They could happen any time anywhere, but they did happen more often when I was in a stressfull situation. So, what does all this babbling say? I got no clue! LOL But, although I think CH's could "trigger" panic attacks, I don't believe they are the cause of them. All MHO, Sherry |
