Title: Re: Calling all puter geeks.... Post by Drk^Angel on May 18th, 2003, 1:43pm Here's what the HP support has to say about the error: "When installing the HP all-in-one driver software from the CD-ROM, an "Error Applying Transforms" message appears. This error usually occurs after the software has been previously installed and/or uninstalled. The error message results when the Microsoft® Installer does not remove certain references in the Windows registry during an uninstall attempt. To correct the problem, the registry keys must be manually removed." You can find the whole document here: http://tinyurl.com/c270 It may be easiest to call HP support, and have them walk you step by step through the issue, that way if you have any questions or concerns, they can get you the answer directly. Good luck! PFDAN................................... Drk^Angel |

Title: Re: Calling all puter geeks.... Post by Peppermint on May 18th, 2003, 2:03pm I agree with Darky Schmarky ( ;D) Jonny'ah. Contact HP help live if you can - messing with the registry keys is probably a little more complicated than I would touch. Just a shot in the dark here, aside from what the error message says.... do you have the correct drivers installed? |

Title: Re: Calling all puter geeks.... Post by TomM on May 19th, 2003, 8:05am My new WinXP Pro machine recognized my HP 1215 Photosmart printer but would not load the drivers that I downloaded from hp.com until I loaded service pack 1 for Win XP Pro. Not until then did it also pick up the USB bus I installed nor the mixer control. Tom |

Title: Re: Calling all puter geeks.... Post by cootie on May 19th, 2003, 8:19am jonny....I just installed that same all in one printer. I had error messages to and it pissed me off.....arghh.....so what I did was uninstalll the new software compleletly and then reinstall'd it again and it went fine. I don't know what happen'd the first time but not everything was installed properly. I was told to uninstall the old printer stuff too but not sure that has anything to do with the problaem at hand. Good luck with the new UNIT (ha-ha) and hope this helped Pam :) |

Title: Re: Calling all puter geeks.... Post by Svenn on May 19th, 2003, 4:21pm JONNY If the HP-printer has a USB-connection you has to install the drivers BEFORE connecting the printer. You also has to disable the firewall/antivirus during the innstalation. Hope this help you Svenn |

Title: Re: Calling all puter geeks.... Post by Opus on May 19th, 2003, 4:39pm Jonny, Did you get it going yet, If the above doesn't help make sure all printer drivers are uninstalled. If you have win 98/ me the go to start, settings, printers, right click on the printer and click delete. Then right click my computer, click properties, hardware profiles and look for a printer or imaging device, if they are there click on the device and delete. make sure you do this with the device disconnected and reinstall then connect device, otherwise windows will just reuse the bad driver. Opus :P |

Title: Re: Calling all puter geeks.... Post by Kirk on May 19th, 2003, 4:57pm Try uninstalling all the HP drivers then run "reg clean". Which you can get a free copy of at www.cnet.com in the download section. Then reinstall. Depending on which Windoze version you're running it should do the trick. A less painfull and happier experience would be to Install Mandrake Linux 9.1 and forget having all these probs ;D TTFN Kirk PS USB or LPT-1? |
