Title: Some questions I need help with.... Post by Roxy on May 15th, 2003, 1:25pm I have read in the archives all I can find about Botox, and there really isn't that much information (worked for a few...didn't for some). This is the treatment that my doctor is recommending next. He was ready to shoot me up last week while I was in the office, and I told him to slow down a little. I'm trying to understand why he is so all fired anxious to do this (other than the fact that insurance pays well for it). Are there any other people out there contemplating this? Does anyone have any new information about this? What do ya'll think I should do? I hope you can help me here, I really need some input.....cause I'm not sure what to do. :-/ Thanks, Tracey BTW: I asked him if my face would be lopsided after he shot me up....you know, one side with wrinkles and one side not. Oh...wait.....I don't have wrinkles..... ;D ;D |

It has shown some success for the migraine sufferes and has been used/studied for them.....imagine that :-/ However, there was one clusterhead, D. Truett, who did have results....check the medical page for his post. Jacks 8) |

Title: Re: Some questions I need help with.... Post by Bob_Johnson on May 15th, 2003, 3:32pm Your question prompted me to take a look at PubMed: found only 5 articles, none of them on cluster. One review of the literature reported finding a couple of case reports on cluster but with mixed reports on outcome. Which is all to say, so far--no evidence that it's helpful for CH. |

Title: Re: Some questions I need help with.... Post by 9erfan on May 15th, 2003, 7:28pm Hi Roxy, I tried it. Mind you, my injection was from a plastic surgeon and not a neurologist. Not only did it not help with my clusters, it triggered a weird headache that lasted for about a week. I did love the way it made me look though, 10 years younger. I have that problem with creases in my forehead because I'm always furrowing my brows (and squeezing my head) so that little prob was taken care of for a little while. I would say, try it once. If it doesn't help, just don't try it again. Not everyone gets the headache that I got. Just my .02. Virginia |

I think I agree Steve... ;D I appreciate everyone's response. Most of the people in the archives who tried the botox were also taking a lot of different meds along with the treatment. Seems no one was real sure what was helping.....or even if it was helping. I think I would prefer to just keep plugging along like I am. Thanks, Tracey |

Title: Re: Some questions I need help with.... Post by nancyann on May 16th, 2003, 11:26am I know that at the NE Headache Center where I am going they are doing a research study on it. That's about all. |

Title: Re: Some questions I need help with.... Post by TomM on May 16th, 2003, 12:24pm Hey, Tracey. My Uncle, who gets a...sorry to say...migraine everyday, had Botox in his forehead. It helped him for just 4-5 days. My Neuro wanted to shoot me with it last fall and I said no because I got the distinct feeling he saw $$. I would not but I'm episodic. My humble opinion. Ok, I'm not so humble but it is my opinion. Are you still getting hit several times a day? TomM |

Title: Re: Some questions I need help with.... Post by NewHeadPLZ on May 16th, 2003, 1:51pm Roxy, If BOTOX was known to be helping others, and the fact that it was new, I'd go for it. But, since it's not, why mess with something that my not be effective. But, that's just my opinion |
