Title: A question about the name
Post by tannero on May 14th, 2003, 7:29am
At first I thought I should stay out of the posting but I figure even though I am new, this cannibal that lives in my head hurts too, so I have another stupid question.

Dosen't the entitlement "cluster headache" comes from the episodic nature of the ass?  (I have recently gone from episodic to chronic)  Chronics are still clusterheads right or is there another term for us mutants.

Hey don't anyone get pissed off this time, I am just sticking my foot in the water.

Poor bastards could be another term.

You are still a clusterhead in my book.

I could be wrong, I have been in the past.  Once I thought I was wrong but I wasn't.

tannero:

I watched the thread(s) that you were involved in a few days ago and don't think anything you said was out of line. I wouldn't worry, as long as posts are thought out and not malicious.  Ask away!!!

(getting out of the line of fire  ;))

P.S.  I'm not sure about the name, but I think it probably has to do with the fact that the majority of clusterheads are episodic.

Tannero,
I believe the term came about because most people with the condition are episodic. We have a period (cycle/cluster) we go through with extreme pain lasting weeks/months with pain free periods lasting anywhere from a month to a couple of years.
To me, the difference is those with chronic have a cycle that could last a lifetime. OUCH!! I really feel for those with chronic.

Hey, thanks for letting me stay with the cluster heads.  I was episodic for eight years and the last bout started about 5 or 6 months ago.   My doc says that makes me chronic, but what does he know.  i think it is just an exceptionally long cycle. haha.  Medication was doing the trick until four weeks ago, now its a shot every night.  Just got off the phone from the insurance and I really appreciate the imitrix tip at this place.  Looks like I am going to be using it.  That is some expensive liquid when the ins. runs out.   We just upped the dose of lithium so we'll wait and see if its back to Houston and the hospital.   Sure feels good here.

They are called cluster headaches because they come in "Clusters", it has nothing to do with being episodic or chronic.

Tan, The leading researcher into clusters (Dr Goadsby) says your doctor is wrong and you are not yet chronic.....I hope it stays that way, only time will tell.

Okay, mabey I am not chronic, just a real long cycle.  I don't know what the definition is but round about a year from now if it hasn't stopped I'll call it any damn thing I want to.  LOL

Apparantly not much.

You are chronic only if you can not go two consecutive weeks pain free within a one year period while being free of any medications.

Chronic or episodic you are still a clusterhead.

Now that you know that, get your fucking foot out of my tub.
