Title: Cold Turkey( TerryS)
Post by TerryS on May 14th, 2003, 1:56am
Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers. I haven't had any Fioricet or Vicodin now in 4 days. Tonight at work my headaches have eased up has far as pain level goes. Three months a go I went cold turkey on Stadol ns and I was on Stadol for 3 years with almost everyday use.

But you guys are the best family anyone could ever have.

God bless you all,

TerryS

Ya know, I don't think they should call what you are doing right now going "cold turkey"  Cold turkey is a yummy "day after Thanksgiving" treat!  Something very nice!

Maybe they should call it going "old dog poop" that seems more appropriate for how it can make you feel!

Sending strength and hopefully a smile your way Terry!
Sherry

Terry:

I've been through it and I'm hoping it is quick and painless for you.  I really can't make any comparisons though.  I was never on anything for more that 2 months (which is plenty of time to build up an addiction).

Good Luck and keep us posted,

Sherry:
I've always wondered why it was 'cold turkey'.  Thanks for the morning laugh.

Terry I remember giving you a plaque at the Atlanta Convention for all the insperation you have given so many here. So many times you have taken and turned my day from a bad one to a good one with your post. I know this is true for so many here.
I have faith in you Terry and I know you will come through this just fine. I am praying for you, God will see you through this along with your cluster family !

Hugs
Elaine

Thee term "Cold Turkey" comes from one of the symptoms of abrupt withdrawal from opiates or opioids. During withdrawal it is very common to go through hot & cold flashes which cause "goose-pimples". The skin resembles turkey flesh, hence the term cold-turkey.

full of useless information - Jim

Great to read you have been able to get out of the grips of Stadol NS.  I too was addicted to the spray a few years back.  I sure feel for you having gone coldturkey like I did. I know exactly what you went through.  Another form of living hell comes to mind.

Glad that the CH related pain has started to ease.

Take care of yourself TerryS.

Kinda guessed that, Jim.   When getting off of demerol, fiorinal, and percadans (percocet), only had cold flashes.  (That and a lot of time driving the porcelain bus!!!)

Not fun... I wouldn't recommend it to anyone  ::) ;),
