Title: Mufkin' Doctors......
Post by Big_Dan on May 13th, 2003, 8:14am
So anyway, I'm at the neuro on a follow up appointment, and he does his whole "Wham bam, thank you, Ma'am" routine... and while he's writing me a script on Topomax... I ask him a question... with underlying reasons...

"So, out of curiosity, how many CH sufferers do you guys see?"....

... and he shoot's me this look from over his shoulder, knowing that a patient could be lost, and says "Lots.... not as many as migraine, but we see lots of them"....

... now I only live in a town with around 110,000.... and if the statistics are right, he doesn't see "lots"....

.... now my question is, anyone in the Central Missouri area have a good nuero they could refer me to?...

Good question to ask Dan.  I think we should all ask that same thing next appt.  Wonder how many Dr's will be honest?  Bet they all say LOTS. They make us sound like we are a very common breed. What I really think is they are just including migraineers in that question.

Sorry cant help ya with a new Dr unless you want to travel to nyc.  ;)

... and just to piss me off more, when he asked how the headaches were doing since the last visit, I informed him that I haven't had anything serious, just shadows...

... and he asks me in a "sass" voice, "What are shadows", as if to say, "You uneducated excuse for a carbon based lifeform, what are you talking about?"...

... may the good Lord smite that man....

Hey there Dan,
If you want to make the 100+ mile trip east to St Louis I can give you the name of the Dr I started seeing during my last cycle.
He's a headache specialist and he's easily the best thing that's happened to me in the 18 yrs I've been dealing with this. This guy knows CH better than all the rest I've seen put together.
His name is Timothy Smith and he works for the Mercy headache clinic in Chesterfield MO.
Just saw your post here at work and I don't have his # or address with me but if you're interested, e-mail me and I'll send you all the info I have for him.
good luck and pfdan's

Jim

Can't help with doctors but Jamestown is a town of about 35,000. We have only two neurologists left here. I asked the one I see for my seizures if he had many CHers. He said he had several. He said: "they can be very painful." Holy shit. Thanks for that doc.

Little twerp.

Charlie
