Title: Something I Never Noticed Before Last Night
Post by stuey on May 9th, 2003, 12:00pm
:(
I was wondering the following.  I know that there are similar things people who suffer from CH experience.  I had an attack last night and noticed that there was this real thick wet spit in my mouth during the episode.  This is the second cyle I have ever been in and don't know how long it will last.  Does this happen to most people?  Also, I guess during sleep I must be slobbering all over the place cause when I am awakened with the next attack my pillow is always mad wet.  I get the usual drooping tearing eye, stopped up left sinus ice pick pain behind the eye, etc., body gets hot, but had never really noticed the slobbering mouth.  Just curious if this happens to most people.  Appreciate any response alot.  I am located in downtown brooklyn so if anyone wants to e-mail me my e-mail is eadshead@mccarter.com.  anyone living in manhattan or brooklyn i wouldn't mind hearing from you either. Peace to you all.  Stuey

Ree, thanks for e-mailing me back.  Sorry to hear your husband suffers from them too and you also know what they are like.  They suck big time.  I finally printed out the physical symptoms from this website and marched in to my boss' office so he could understand that when I say I had a cluster attack don't go thinking it is something aspirin cures.  So few people even know what they are.  My sister is a physicians assistant and suffers migraine herself so at least she understands when i talk about pain.  3 years when i first started getting them the first doctor was hesitant to give me imitrex saying it caused sudden death in some people.  i told my sister what she thought.  she answered that tylenol causes sudden death in some people.  i asked what she would do and she asked me if anything they were giving me was stopping the pain and I said no.  So she said that she would eat shit three times a day if that is what the doctor said to do if it would stop the headaches.  that was funny to me.  is your husband in remission?  i hope so.  They say God don't give you more than you can bear and I'm like but life is already so fucking hard at times why something else ya know.  Anyway, i know this is long so i'll go.  Thanks again.  Peace to you and yours.  Stuey

Stuey,

You're in good company.  The only other guy I've ever heard mention thick spit was Hub.  Like he had a mouth full of wet concrete.  I think he's been a suckin' on that hose hangin' off the back of Bubba Zook's truck again.

Stuey  ya my hubby is in remission... still havent seen him for long enough today to ask about the spit thing but Im sure its probably a weird side effect... Yes it does suck terribly to be part of this "rare" group that is effected by clusters... I'm with your sister, i would do anything to relieve my Migraine pain too, can't imagine the pain you all endure... Anyway be sure to have someone close by if the Imatrex makes you nervous... When Dave first started taking the injections we made sure I was close by for about a half hour after he administered it, to assist incase of heart attack or something deadly... Once he was hooked up to this DHE stuff at the hospital and they even put him on the heart monitor... that kinda freaked our family out a bit.   He has taken it for years fingers crossed hoping we dont have any permanent damage from it... I take it too as well as zomig. I like zoming better.  Are you on a preventative??? Have you tried O2 there are many different tricks.  Dave has also had problems with work even the FMLA has been questioned as recently as today about time he needed off to deal with his CH issues... good luck and again welcome... ree

I also experience a weird taste and thick saliva.  It tastes like I just licked a battery.  A real nasty taste.  Everything I eat and drink taste like it.  I have this taste whenever I experience Kip 7 or higher CH's.  I am also on DHE 45 injections and I know it is not the medication causing the weird taste and thick saliva because I have have that as long as I have been having CH's. (too long). :'(  (14 years)  Just diagnosed 2 years ago and on the right medication for 3 weeks now.  ;D thanks to the Jefferson Headache Center in Philadelphia.

Stuey,
I also experience what you have described.  It happens to me during the ramp up which has me up in advance of having it find its way to the pillow.

Hey stuey,
I'm new at this, just my second day to find this place.  I get this weird taste in my mouth around kip3 and I know it is going to be a bad one.  The shadows come and go but when that weird taste is there I go to the imitrix.  I can't give it a particular taste it is just a feeling or a different texture on the back of my tongue.  Hope things go well for you.
tannero the new one ;D
