Title: Instant Success!!!!! Post by gills on May 9th, 2003, 7:11am After 18 years of being mis diagnosed as migraine sufferer (typical) 3 years ago a doc recognised me as a clusterhead. No medications or pain killers ever worked. Until now!!!! Sumatriptan succinate (6mg) self injections (Imigran Mk II) Had my first sample shot last night. 7 minutes to work and then the beast instantly let go. From Kip 8 to no pain. Am I lucky? Can I possibly hope this will happen all the time? How much does this drug cost? (I live in Australia) Please help me with these questions. Happy for now anyway. Gills |

Title: Re: Instant Success!!!!! Post by BobG on May 9th, 2003, 8:04am Imigran, or Imitrex in the USA, is the #1 choice as an abortive for clusterheadaches. Cost? Way too much! It's a migraine medicine and there's 10's of thousands of 'grainers to sell to. Big $$ for the drug company. And the big $$ is the reason insurance companies won't approve enough for clusterheads to get through a cycle. Have you tried oxygen as an abortive and/or verapamil as a preventative? |

I agree, Bob. These manufacturers, my clients or not, get way too much $$$ for drugs we desparately need. Unfortunately, I am part of the problem since my firm does the patent litigations for many durg companies like Eli Lilly, GSK, & Scherring. TomM ;D |

Yes Bob G. Depend on Verapamil. They reduce my frequency but the CH's that get through are tough to handle. Doc will not give me O2 because I smoke. Gills |
