Title: Re: pain oh ya that pain Post by Mack on May 7th, 2003, 2:50pm Oh my gawd, I was just going to the same sentiment. I've been searching for ways to describe the pain so others (non-CHer's) could understand. Friends and co-workers have complained to me that they have one of "my headaches". I get kind of annoyed because they have no idea. "It waits in the shadows; I know it's there. I wonder if he's gonna get me this time. I start to think he's going to go back to sleep, then....here he comes. First, a broomstick pushed slowly through the back of my skull until it hits the back of my eye. Next, he's trying to push the broomstick back, using an ice pick. I notice that a guillotine must have split my skull perfectly down the middle because the left side of my head feels nothing. I'm sweating on the right side, my eye is swollen and my nose is running. Please stop. I try to grab the broomstick, try to gently remove this thing by massaging the back of my neck while cradling the right side of my face as if someone has just punched me. He relents and removes the ice pick and broom handle. The pain is leaving. The beast has receded to the shadows; I know it's there. I wonder how long he'll sleep? And will it be worse next time?" I wrote this down the other day and thought about posting it outside of my cube at work. I'm babbling, forgive me. I understand your pain, and hope your beast sleeps forever. Mack |

Title: Re: pain oh ya that pain Post by CathiP on May 7th, 2003, 3:28pm Mike- I am sorry you're feeling such pain- and, y'know what? you will get through it! Please keep posting. Vent, rant, yell, then when you are free of the beast's grip, join in helping those still hurting! Mack- I really like what you've written. Keep writing- especially if it helps you. Good stuff! Title: Re: pain oh ya that pain Post by stevek on May 7th, 2003, 6:41pm Mike, I know how you feel. I think that is why I just want to be left alone when I’m hit. I’m so tired of the stupid suggestions and “I get bad headaches too”. Just knowing that I wasn’t the only one helped me. Take care, stevek |

Title: Re: pain oh ya that pain Post by Charlie on May 7th, 2003, 8:13pm Welcome aboard and Jonny is right. We know, really know what this horror is like. Ch is like have a three pronged fish hook twisting back and forth on the nerves testing to find the most sensitive area. This occurs for varying amounts of time. After awhile, we are given a break to recover, just to make sure the nerve is in top pain-receiving condition and it begins again and again and again. Glad you found a home and stick around. New blood is always welcome. Charlie |

Title: Re: pain oh ya that pain Post by Callico_Kid on May 7th, 2003, 11:59pm Mike and Mack, Welcome aboard both of you. You have found a family that does understand and care. Come to learn and stay to help. One thing my mother taught me when I was a wee youngster was that there is always someone that is in worse shape than you. I try to remember that when the beast is banging on my skull. Two thoughts I hang on to: 1) YOU DON'T DIE FROM THIS (you just wish you would), 2) IT WILL END! When all else fail read #2 again. jc |
