Title: just need a lil help
Post by tonee on May 7th, 2003, 10:54am
hey all new here

anyway my doctor is very hard to get in with, and i need to be seen about these headaches ive been having, i don't know if they are clusters or what... Maybe some one could help me and give an opion(s).. I see my doc next week, but here's what's going on.

My headaches are more in the morning and evenings.. they come on quick and focus in one area of my head, top of head, behind one eye or another, occipital area, or on both sides so my head feels like it's in a vice.  Nothing helps soon enough for these.
I also have the like dull pain always... and then it's set off by things, like my kids screaming, loud talking etc.. but then resides after a few moments...

Does anyone know whats going on?  You can Email me at Sweetliltoe@aol.com if anyone has a clue...

thanks
tonee

Just from what you describe, on the surface doesn't sound much like clusters, but take the cluster quiz on the left, see how you do.

Definitely see a doctor.  Head pain can be caused by many many things and it is important to see a doc to rule out some of the dangerous things.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Sherry

I agree with Sherry on this one.  However,  the cluster beast is a mutant bastard who continually changes his MO.  See a neuro famililar with clusters to be sure.

Yes  ::)I agree with echo see a neuro famililar with clusters
I spent 20 years suffering 1 -2 tims a year and GP Dr. never did anything that worked. I even took a copy of this web site into him and he still would not try the meds. listed. On April 29, I saw a Neuro that deals only with headaches  ;D ;D ;D Bang I have been PF for 110 hr. and yes i count Hr. between headaches   ::) ::)

Tonee,
It sounds like Migraines but it could also be Cluster/Migraine syndrome which combines the two. The treatments are the same as CH but Beta blockers work as a preventative where calcium channel blocker tend to work for regular CH. I thought I had this until I realized that I was getting CH and Migraines. The dull ache which I thought was CH shadows was actually a migraine. The best way to tell what you have to lie down flat. This will make a migraine much better and a CH much worse. If nothing changes then it may be a tension ha. What do you take for the pain? For most over the counter meds do nothing for a CH. I thought I had nausea during my attacks but I found it was just from taking pain meds. I do always have nausea with a Migraine. Hope this helps. Here is a link for C/M syndrome. http://www.clusterheadache.org/library/general/ch_general.htm

I don't usually take anything because it doesn't work in time... I've been chatting with a guy on here and he thought that it sounded like symptoms along the lines of chronic paroxysmal hemicrania.. I looked into it and sounds like what I have going on.. so i printed a buncha stuff out to bring to the dr. with me...

You guys, thank you sooo much for helping me.. Rarely does that happen anymore...

Much love
Toe

Strikes me as classic CH in its development stage. I had exactly the same experience for about seven-years--movement of pain around the head--before it settled down to a fixed location.

Too many folks believe that there is only one experience of cluster and find it difficult to accept that it can change over time or that different people have a different focus of their pain.
