Hi guys!! I haven't visited in quite awhile. I have been suffering with the monster for 8 years. I am a 30 year old male in NYC. I have been misdiagnosed with sinus headaches, migraines, who knows what else. Thank God for the internet because I was finally able to diagnose myself and find a good doctor who I am able to work with. The monster comes every other spring and lasts through September. My last episode was cut short (Praise the Lord) when my doctor prescribed Propranolol(60mg.1Xdaily) and it worked!!! I had just learned about Imitrex and it workes pretty well (5 out of 6 headaches) even though it makes me pretty nauseous. Well, this time the headaches started and right away I was getting hit with 5 -8 a day. I had a few doses of Imitrex and started the Propranolol right away. I called my Doctor to get a refill on the Imitrex and I picked up 6. What a joke, that's supposed to be a month supply. Has anyone had any luck getting their insurance to pay for more? They are awfully expensive. The Propranolol doesn't seem to be working so I am going to go see my doctor this week and see what we can come up with. If he can't help I think I'm gonna call the lady who is running the clinical trials in NYC and see if she can help. This episode is the worst yet!!! My friends don't get it and my family tries to understand. My sister actually just started getting ClusterFucks (sorry, I feel one coming on)and my girlfriend who I live with gets migraines so she has an idea of whats wrong with me. I am getting anxiety just thinking about dealing with doctors again. It seems like none of them know what they are doing. I want to try oxygen this time, maybe I'll get some relief. Thank God for hot showers because although they dont stop them, they reduce the pain significantly as long as I stay in there. Unfortunately I have to work and drive and everything else and it's not always possible to get wet. My poor dog looks at me like I'm insane. I am starting to feel a little insane. I know that with prayer and a decent Doctor I'll get through this one, I'm just glad I have a place to vent. If anyone in NY had a good doctor who is experienced with this, please let me know. My Doctor is OK but its hard to get an appointment. Thanks for listening guys!!!!

Dude, check out the imitrex tip on the button to the left. It really works. Welcome aboard. It looks kind of slow tonite, so stick around and read all the wonderful stuff on this site. Somebody else will show up soon ..........andy You got to get the 02. read about it on the post below! Sorry about your pain, hang in there.

Yes...work with your doctor to write a letter of Medical Necessity. (http://www.resna.org/taproject/policy/initiatives/mednec.html) It worked for me and many others.

Propranolol ( Inderal ) (http://www.psyweb.com/Drughtm/inderal.html) was one of the first drugs tried on me...it seemed to work a little, for a short while. Look here (http://www.clusterheadaches.org/medications.htm) for information on CH treatment. Print this, and more, and take it to your next Dr. visit.

Finally! Another hot freak. Most of us prefer cold...not me...HOT AS HELL please...till the well runs dry.
