(How To Stop The Frustrations About The Lack Of Results From The Search Engine, And How To Become An Expert In Its Use.....)

First click the http://www.clusterheadaches.com/public_html/yabbimages/search.gif Search button in the page header and the search page will open.

The search box is divided into 5 sections, differenced by the background shade.

In the Search section put the word(s) you are looking for into the first box. If you type only one word all is done for this section, otherwise you must select from the drop down list whether you want a match for all words, any word or as a phrase.
Note: The search is not case sensitive. Wildcards (*,?) are not allowed; however, partial matching is done, e.g. if you make a search on lust you'll get a lot of hits for cluster and clusterhead.
The "By User" part has no use (that I have found).

In the 2nd section you can (un)check the boards to search. It is a waste of time to search the "Funnies and Jokes" board for oxygen or Imitrex.

In the Fields to Search section you specify to search subject lines or body of messages or both.

The 4th section seems to be the most neglected and is reponsible for the failures to get any hits. Obviously, if you are looking for post that are not older than 0 hours + 0 days you will not get any results. So put some numbers that make sense into the "Max Age since last post" boxes.
Example: To search the whole archive the number of days for "Max Age" should be larger than the number of days since Feb 14, 2002. If you look for post of the last 6 hours put this as Max Age. If you want to find something written 4 of 5 weeks ago use 25 days for Min Age and 40 days for Max Age.
Simple, huh? ;D

In the last section, how many results?, you can change the number of wanted/expected hits (use at least 5000 if your search term is "jonny" :P).
Finally, hit the Search button, go for a coffee and when you come back the results are hopefully displayed.

Hell... If you search for Jonny and have it give you at least 5000 results, you might as well order pizza, eat, get drunk, have consentual sex with Rosy Palm and her five sisters, go to sleep, go to werk the next morning, come home... Somewhere in that jumble the results might be ready, unless your browser crashed during that time... Then you can start over from the beginning.

I have been digging in the archives for a while. I got some news for you, nothing is new, it's almost ALL been discussed here before, alot! Fights, sex, drugs, it's all in there. Good God some of you have been here for a LOOOONG time ! ;D

Werk is that horrible place where you spend 40+ hours a week, bustin' your ass doing everything as well as can be done with the information and tools provided, only to be told you're doing it wrong because they provided the wrong information and/or tools, and they blame you for it. Oh... And they pay your diddly-squat to be treated like second class shit.

Ueli, more lucid instructions have never been written. This should be the first thing someone sees when they access the search function.
Are you contributing to the cluster booklet? It is clear that you possess both a great deal of knowledge, and a fine command of the english language.
