Title: Gamma Knife Surgery
Post by Kirk on Apr 30th, 2003, 1:40pm
I haven't heard anything about this procedure in a long time.
There was someone on the board that was going to try it. Has anyone heard what the results were?

Kirk -
That was my post I think you were referring to.  Basically, after doing lots of reading, etc. I found that the scaled tipped highly to the negative.  There is a newer procedure that I'm still getting information on, having spoken to some people at Ouch UK.  Doc Goadsby is involved with it, if I have the correct info.  Its a new stimulator implant (?) which I believe may be the one Lee and Mark referred to on the meds board.

My friend has been (THANK heaven!!) turned down for the Gamma Knife surgery, so we are looking at what's next.  If you'd like to discuss, my email is to the left.  My friend has nearly (i'd like to say nearly, and hope something has been overlooked) tried every med, and method besides surgery.

Look in Meds, its not too far back a thread, under  my name entitled, Gamma Knife.

Pepp   ;)

Gore2424 had the surgery done.  Last time he posted it was working wonders for him.

Thank you Ueli, & Bob.  That just confirms everything I've read.  Karla, he may be pain free, for now, or forever, but what other side effects/results has Gore2424 had due to the surgery.

I'm convinced this is not the road to go down, considering its track record.  The newer surgery has had far more positive results, though its still too early for the final verdict on success rate.
