Title: Hey
Post by atama_ga_itai on Apr 29th, 2003, 3:52pm
Hello all,
Newbie here, just wanted to say hello.  Been reading the boards for a couple days and decided to join.  I personally do not suffer from cluster headaches, my father does, and I want to know more about them.  I also wanted to compliment you all on the support that you offer each other, really impressive.

Sorry to read that ayour father suffers from these little jewels.  It will be interesting to get your perspective on what you see from your angle.  May help some of us who do suffer to have a better understanding of how it affects those around us.  Always good to hear information from another individual.

How old is your dad?  How long has he suffered?  Cronic or Eposidic?  How old are you?

I only lived with my father for a few years as a child.  One thing I could tell for sure is that he was miserable when he was having an attack.  I was always confused that the thousands he was spending on doctors and drugs could not fix him.  They seem totally terrible though.  My dad is in his late 40's (sadly I do not know exactly).  As long as I can remember it has been 15 years or around there for him.  I thought he had him beat for awhile, it seemed like a few years without an attack.  I know when he is having them it is several a week.

A little more about me.  I am a 26 year old Corpsman in the Navy.  I am here to show support for him and the rest of you guys.  I hope to learn more about them and hope to direct people to ease the suffering that they have from these nasty things.  I work at a hospital and I am very close to many really good doctors.  My father directed me to this board but I do not even know if he uses the message board or not.  Or his screen name for that matter, I haven't been able to point him out yet.

Welcome to the board!  Sorry that the beast is racking your father's cranium over white hot coals, shards of poisoned broken glass, and rusty, acid coated steel spikes.  Welcome to the family!  Good luck!

Welcome aboard and it's a nice thing you're doing getting to understand this for you dad. He will appreciate it. It's normally very hard to convey the level of pain clusterheads endure from this horror. Simon's lettter is one of the best. It's worth a look.

Stick around.
