Title: Virgin to CH.com
Post by aprilbee on Apr 28th, 2003, 10:47am
Hello!  I am new to this website and sooooo thankful I have found it!  I have a question about dizziness.  When I am not suffering from the actual headaches, and especially when I am in what they call the "remission" phase, I get these horrible dizzy spells, and I can't find any information about that.  I have been told by my doctor that it is just part of the clusters.  Does anyone else experience this?  And, if so, is this normal?  Can anyone recommend a cite that may clear things up a little?  Any information is very helpful.  Thank you.

I don't get dizzy spills myself, just kind of a profound relaxation...like monks must get.

You certainly got _MY_ attention with your thread title! We're always on the lookout for a Few Good Virgins - {Praise Wotan.}
Perhaps, if you list the medications you're taking,  someone can possibly provide a factual (if not sordid) reason for your dizziness. Many around here suffer from dizziness after an attack.....but that's usually from beating their heads against solid objects during a hit.
Welcome aboard.........wish I had more to say.....but my head is still reeling from the Virgin thingie.

Yours in chas-titty,
RJ

I take Imotrex, Darvocet N100, and Zomig, just depending on what my doctor feels is right for the time.  Heaven forbid he pick one that works and stick with it???  Anyway, my dizziness is MOSTLY during the "remission" when I am not taking any medication.  I was just hoping someone else had the same symptom.  I can look into it further with my doctor.  Thank you for the advice.

howdy fellow virgin,
I really don't think your dizziness has anything to do with clusters.  Episodics are pretty much "normal" when out of cycle, specially if they aren't on medication.
I'd check this one out further with your doctor...NON cluster related.  Sounds like something different.  Also, I've been here for years, and don't recall a "dizzy" post whilst in remission.
Good luck and let us know what he says.
Also, WELCOME to our home.
Mast

I personally cannot relate to the dizzyness during or after an attack.

Some on this board may think I'm a little dizzy for other reasons. ;D  And to them I say "himkneeglick".

Welcome to our ward. Lots of good people here and some ideas to make this horror a bit easier.

Dizziness?  I imagine overdoinig Darvocet or other stuff may have an effect. Nearly everyone gets vertigo at one time in their lifetime. I did but it lasted for about a week. They don't understand it well. It's one of those things. I don't think it's supposed to recur though.  They even have a drug or two. The other thing I had when I was younger, was that I'd get up from a chair too fast and fall on my face. It's a circulatory thing. It didn't last for me but it does for some. Move slower.

Just some thoughts.  By the way, painkillers have almost zero effect on clusters and take too long to work anyway.

Just some thoughts.

Take care and stick around

Charlie

April,
I do feel dizziness during remission. IT is caused by sinus problems that used to give me horrible sick headaches. I no longer feel the pain because after CH Kip 10 there is not much pain that bothers me any more. All that is left is the dizziness. I take antihistamines and decongestants and it goes away.

"Hi aprilbee".......I'm a supporter....but I get them darn dizzy spells off and on alot and think sum of that could just be from what others have mention'd on here...sinus stuff or vertigo or innner ear. My mom has serious inner ear bouts....gee lucky me and genetics. I've been gettin it alot lately but have had alot of sinus this spring as with alot of folks. Just like a virgin for the very first time Pam  :)

Hi Aprilbee an welcome.

I to have had that happen to me but it had nothing to do with clusters. What I found out from my doc was that I was suffering from anxiety/panic disorder. My mom has it but it is controlled with medication. I don't need to take meds for it because it has seemed to have subsided on its own. At the time when it was happening I thought that there was something seriously wrong but it turns out there wasn't. Just hearing the doctor tell me it was nothing serious made me feel much better. Now if it starts to happen I know what it is and I can usually control it. Stress is a bad thing and will do things to the body that are really weird: dizzyness/hyperventilating/pains that cannot be pinpointed etc. So if there are alot of things going on in your life right now it could be the cause of the problem. You also might want to have your thyroid checked out, it can do crazy things to you as my wife can attest to. She had dizzyness/foggyness for a long time before a thyroid specialist figured out what was wrong. Most GP's will check the gland and tell you everything is normal but the problem is that a normal level for one person is not normal for another. this happens because GP's generally do not know much about it so they just blow it off. >:(  They got it straightened out and now she says she feels great. If you want to, email me and I'm sure my wife can give you soe useful information regarding the thyroid. Problems and other ailments associated with it are alot more common than people think.

Sorry for the long post but it might be worth checking out because having dizzyness all the time really sucks.

I'm dizzy most of the time but it is usually the beer! ;D

Thank you jimbo, I am definately going to look into it further, I just thought it was another side effect I had to suffer through,
I have actually had my thyroid checked and it is below normal, and my life is wonderful, but I am a very high stress, worry wort type, so that information helps as well.
