I don't have cable way out here in the country! No DSL, just old dial up! I went over to earthlink and its great its fast they have what they call earthlink accelerator. They are running a special for six months its $15.95 a month after six months its $29.95 You can cancel any time you want to. Its beats what I had. I love it.
It would take me forever to open ch.com, now it takes no time. Chats great also now. My old dial up was making me cuss, the F word was becoming a everday word. Now I just smile :-)!

Thought some of you might want to try it if you were having the same problem as me getting here. Oh and you don't get knocked off line either.

Or thier own "dialer" type thing?

www.netzero.com has Good dialup for $9.95 a month for unlimited and an acclelerated service for $14.95 a month that is supposed to be %30 faster than the normal $9.95 a month dial up.
www.juno.com also has a $9.95 a month dialup and an acclelerated service for $14.95 a month, but I havent used Juno and I'm not wure if that is unlimited but thoses are all the time rates.
http://www.peoplepc.com/has a $9.95 per month dialup service and for $24.95 a month you can buy a computer and get your dial up service included and upgrade every 2 years to a new computer.
I think PeoplePC is based out of Atlanta and my uncle that lives in Peachtree City swears by them!

Hi E! Good to see you, you sound like you are happy! Hope you're taking care and feeling good!

I used to have Earthlink when I was in VA. I loved it. Course they didn't have an accelerator then, but it was fairly fast and very reliable then.

Pappy, Netzero and Juno basically are the same company now. They merged a few years ago, so the speed and reliability should be the same. (I used to use Netzero back when it was free...it was great, allowed a lot of us our first taste of the internet! I miss those free stuff days... :'()

;D ;D Thanks for the kind words Sherry, I knew that they had merged but they offer different numbers of lins in different area, I used the Free servers too! Miss those days but even though I have Cable now and have all my computers networked to one account, I still hold on to my free accounts, you never know what will happen tomorrow. also it a good thing to go back and do a comparison to see what you have gained by paying the price for Cable, I use to rib some unnamed poster here(need for speed seemed irrelivant to me)about why he paid for Cable when there were so manyFree servers out there, then when alta vista pulled out and the free dial up shrank to 40 hrs or 10 hrs a month I felt silly for routing them to everyone.
If I were in the market for a new PC I would seriously consider people PC.
I know now that Cable Rules! It's like going from a Lambragini to a bicycle when you go back to dial up!
I'm eating a fruit and vegtable diet for the Hep C and taking Oxy Contin for the Headaches, the Clusters are under control for the first time in 34 years, now if I could just get my viral load down below 10 million!

I know what you mean about the speed Pappy! I have DSL and I just don't think I could go back to dial-up. I had to go back when we first moved here... I could not believe the difference!!

I'm glad your CH is finally under control! It's just too much to have to deal with the Hep C AND the CH.

If anyone is interested in getting earthlink please let me know. I can save you some cash and the rate will never be the same as just getting it on your own. There is no 6 month trial and then the rate jumps up. Right now they are giving 45 days free then the standard rate of $17.95. That is the rate they are listing for now and can change at any time. But as far as I understand it they will keep that rate for you as long as you are a customer and it is subject to increase just like everything else that you can buy.
