Title: Newbie..wanted to say hello
Post by Wolfmom on Apr 22nd, 2003, 1:34pm
I have suffered clusters for over 10 years.  I've tried all the medications..all the treatments..some help for a while..then BAM!..it's all back again.  I have developed a fear of leaving home since the clusters have become cronic.  I came here because I feel so alone..no one seems to understand what I feel inside because of this.  My husband tries his best to understand..but I see the frustration on his face each time an attack occures.  Lately..I've found myself praying for death.  They say that men suffers mostly with clusters..lol..sometimes I feel like God has played a joke on me..I have 7 brothers and not one suffers any type of headaches..but the only female in this family does.  I feel so hopeless.

You have come to the right place.  Many of us, me included have prayed for any end to these demons of life.  Possibly your husband could gain additional understanding and support by reading the supporters corner of the MB.  Welcome to the family Wolfmom.  Let us know more about yourself and your situation.  We are here to listen, support and give the occassional push on the back side needed to deal with CH.

Welcome Wolfmom, (curious bout that name)
I'm sorry your dealing with such pain but you have found the right place, here with us.
Please read all you can. Maybe there is something that you have not tried yet that will help. If there is not, then you still have us to help you deal with it.

Welcome to the board!  Sorry that the beast keeps slammin' your cranium into a pile of dull, rusty, infected, white hot, acid covered, dirty razorblades, and shards of glass.  Welcome to the family!  Good luck!

Welcome Wolfmom!

I hope this place and the people here can help you with your pain.  I am chronic also, and you can't let it interfere with your enjoyment of life.  Just load whatever your ammo is to fight the things......and go.  Get out and enjoy your pain free times.  Try to live as though you won't ever get hit again.

I know the look of frustration on your husbands face well.  I see it every time I look at my husband as I'm getting hit.  That look of frustration is just because he wants to help you and can't.  It is very hard on our supporters.

Tell us what medications and treatments you have used.  There are so many combinations and different methods.....you CAN find one that will help you.  Do you have a good neuro?  I saw in your profile that you are from Houston, my neuro is in Houston.  He's not the warmest or most caring doc in the world, but he has helped with my meds, and gave me an 02 script.

My main question is:   Have you tried 02?  If not.....please read up on it and try to get some as soon as possible.

PFDAN,
Tracey

Welcome Wolfmom!  Sorry you are suffering with this crap!  But you have landed yourself in a whole nest of fellow CH'ers.

Can't say I felt alone exactly before I found this place, but I sure did feel like a freak!  When I finally was diagnosed, I was told that it was rare, and my being a female with it was even rarer! But coming here, I found I was not the only one and I was also not anywhere near being the only female!

This place and the people in it will definitely help you in some way.

Welcome,
Sherry

Welcome to the family Wolfmom...I'm glad you cleared up the confusion about you're name...I just thought you were really hairy!  :-/

I know how you feel.  I've felt so all alone many times during the past 18 years while battling this beast.   The thing that made me feel better is the more time I spent reading this board...I found myself reading everyone's posts and saying to myself "wow, they get pain there too?"..."Hey, he/she feels like that when he/she gets a headache??that's how I feel!!", etc, etc...No matter what you have gone through with your clusters, whether it is physical, mental, emotional pain, there is someone on this board who has gone through the EXACT same thing!  YOu will be amazed.

NOBODY understands what we go through except the people on this board.  Invite your husband to read some of the posts on this message board, maybe it will help him be more understanding.  But who knows?  I've been with my boyfriend for many years and it still stuns me when I'm in the bedroom trying to ride out a h/a and he comes in and goes "what's wrong?"  I just want to say "WHAT'S WRONG????  HAVE I NEVER MENTIONED IN THE LAST FEW YEARS THAT I HAVE SOMETHING CALLED CLUSTER HEADACHES????HEELLLOOOO!!!"  It must be all the drugs he did when he was younger...that's all I can think of.

Anyway, didn't mean to be long-winded but did want to let you know that you are welcome....sometimes we get a littler ornery but just ignore us.  We're generally a good group.

Hope to see you post often.

Virginia

Dear Wolfmom,

Glad you found us.  You are not alone.  I thought i was for 25yrs till I found this board a year ago.  What a godsend these folks were.  We all kno what you are going through and can understand fully your pain and fear of going out.  Stick around and read, read, read.

One thing you need to understand.  Being a clusterhead you are not normal.  Normal is merely average, the best of teh worst and the worst of the best.  The cream of the crap!  Anyone who is a clusterhead and functional is far above normal.

Wishing you PFDANs

jc

BTW Don, LOL!!!  I come on here looking for relief when being hit and laughing like that hurts! :)  That is a good hurt though.

Truly beautiful a n i m a  l s.  I once raised a Timberwolf whos mother was  killed by a car.  Had him from the ending of bottle feeding until about 6 months.  Huge -- the wild was calling him back.  He sure scared the hell out of the neighbors dogs and cats.

Welcome Wolfmom,

The combination of: lack of understanding (but, can you blame them, only we, know the perfect pain) and the need to be ALONE WITH YOUR PAIN, makes this Clusterheadache disease, a very lonely existence.

I urge you to use our existence, here in Clusterville, to open up new dialogue with your husband, about what we go through. WE LOVE SUPPORTERS!!!!!!! He would be welcomed with open arms. We don’t know who you two are, it’s anonymous. This is not a part of your lives that he can ignore, the pain is all encompassing, and being chronic, there is no break. There is no one on earth that can understand what our pain is, except for another Clusterhead, that’s why this site is a miracle from God. I hope your pain is brief, but your stay is long.

PFDAN,
David J.

ADDENDUM FOR THE BOARD:  Just looking at the other side of things, if this site is a safe haven for all of you to share about problems, do you feel comfortable having your spouse/significant other (other than what?) checking in?

Sorry David, but there is no way I can buy into that statement.  This site is a miracle from DJ.  He set this site up and as far as I know he wasn't given any guiding instructions from God.

Flame away if you must, but God or not, DJ gets the credit for this site.

Catster,

You, of all people? Of course it’s DJ. Have I ever sounded like a religious proselytizer in any of my posts? Don’t let any pre-conceived notions about God, fog your mind. When I refer to God, I refer to the universal force that enables life to exists. That spark of life, God’s touch, which separates us from rocks and plastics. An infinite dance of electro-magnetic particles, coalescing, for some unfathomable reason, to form life, not a rock. Same material, different result. The result this time was DJ. Unless I was uniformed, DJ doesn’t wish to be proselytized. This was my way of paying homage.

Row, row, row the boat,
David J.

Hello Wmom and WELCOME :D,
sometimes I’m wondering what harm we did to stand such pain. Try to be strong and never be demoralized. Now we are here for you, for helping you! :)

All the best for you from Italy,

Zaira  :-* :'(
