Title: You Need to POST!!
Post by Mikey on Apr 21st, 2003, 3:50pm
Guys, i've been here for about two yrs.  The first year
i only posted 3 times! Then i got hit with a bad cycle and started posting.  Then i was away from the puter for 5 months with another illness.  Then i came back and realized that in order to get help you got to POST!

I also believe that once things are under control with yourself, it is very selfish not to POST to others that need help.

I guess what i'm trying to say is, stay in the loop.

Since i've gotten back on track, i have received help like you wouldn't believe!

I would really like to name people here that has helped me so very much, but some things are better left unsaid, except

THANKS SO VERY MUCH for all the help i have recieved from people that know who they are, and others that might not, because sometimes just a joke or a picture of something funny will bring your spirits up and that person, that posted that, might not have a clue of what they have done for someone.

So guys, if it's a new drug, therapy, joke, or just to say hi or welcome to someone, it may mean the world to them, it has to me several times.

My THANKS to everyone and especially the ones that have gone out of their way to help me, you know who you are!

Humbled  Mikey,  ;D

Mikey,

Damn straight.  Post like hell, I say.

Here’s my philosophy on posting.  I’m not saying this is the best way, but it makes sense to me.

If someone posts a horrific story or need of support, they need immediate support.  Sometimes, their issue will resonate with a particular person who was or is in the same circumstance.  When a person in need of support gets a fast, relevant and meaningful reply to a call for help, it means everything in the world.  It can even save a life.

With that being said, I think it makes sense to be somewhat open to the topics being discussed in order to increase the motivation to be here often and regularly.  Even heated discussions can drive this basic motivation and result in the right people being in the right place at the right time to provide critical support.

So, what I’m saying is post.  Post a lot.  And, if you act like a dimwit, it’s like having a court jester to provide even more motivation to watch and listen (and maybe play with) and be available when it might just be YOU that is needed.  Don’t take confrontations here as if they actually mean anything… it’s words.  If you get your feelings hurt, say so.  Sometimes people rethink their actions, sometimes they don’t… so what?  The point is not to prove anything, it’s to be here when support is needed.

I'm here ... just not too vocal.  Kind of keep it to private messages when I think someone needs the extra boost.

Mikey - I totally agree with you.   :)  When I found this site in January, 2002 I was just finishing up my last cycle - I was in no pain and have been pf since then with no med since April, 2002.   ;D  I'm here attempting to help those in need when I can because I know that the roles will be reversed with my next cycle.  I'll soon be draning the board of support.  We can't always be takers - we have to be givers as well.

First and foremost is the preparation :)
But let me answer your question - no choice on how well done it is, it's best when done according to the recipe and is exquisitely tender ;)

The serving and manner are of course key to fooling everyone :)

You start with a large pot of water, bring to a boil.  Get a large bottle of rum or rye and then take several nips, add spices to the pot, add some of the rum or rye, take several more nips, then prior to skinning take the tongue and lick all guests present in the house :)
After you have initiated everyone with the 'cow lick' you then skin the tongue, take a few more nips from the bottle, place the tongue in the pot and simmer for several hours.  While waiting, take several more nips from the bottle while adding a slosh or two to the pot every hour.

When the tongue is finished simmering, cool completely, slice, serve on platter with other meats and cheeses ;)
It will be the tenderest beef you have ever had!

And now you know the REST of the story....

LOL Rox.  Except for one problem.  The spices are secret  ::)  Only my Dad prepared the xmas tongue, and he passed the recipe onto my brother, and my brother refuses to talk, and my Dad is dead  :-/

Guess some things are meant to be guess work :)

Hey Grant, i"ve got a question for ya.  Think we can kill a cow and take it to Cat's house?  That way we can have our BEEF and her TONGUE together!

"Where's the beef?" remember that one?

Mikey,  ;D

Mikey... It'd also prolly be cheaper to buy a whole cow than just to buy the tongue.  Last time I priced tongue, it was almost cheaper to buy fillet mignon, and that was like 5 years ago.  It's considered some sort of delicacy or something now.  Oh well... If ya can't beat the recipe outta Cat's brother, tongue is also good boiled without the alcohol and spices... Maybe just add a bit of salt to the water.  Slice it up and make tongue sandwiches.

Exactly right Kenn. I'm sure it would probably be cheaper. Man, wouldn't doubt it cause just the way beef prices are now can blow your mind, especially something like tongue.

I've always wondered something, what do they call Steer testicles?  Maybe something like "Texas meatballs"
ROTFLMAO!!

It might be just as good, but no way is it as much fun  :D
Nothing compares to a drunken cook running around licking any and all present with an uncooked tongue hehe.

I have to disagree with your statement you don't get support if you don't post.
Thats not true.
I know several people who have never posted a word that not only get support but give it also. Its done through email! People come here all the time that don't want to post but want to talk to one or two people so they email them. I have been emailed several times by people who have never posted and we have become great friends. I supported them.
When I was in the hospital I recieved flowers from people I never hear of that never post but they read them.
Support is given and recieved by many people who don't post and I feel they should be welcome also.
As far as leaving the loop, sometimes people have to leave, other priorities some times come up.
I love this place always have but its not my main priority, I have several things that has to come first from time to time like a lot here. Lets don't say you can't get support if you don't post ! Lets don't make people feel guilty if they have to leave the loop for a time.
I am going back to my corner now.
Have a good day posters and non posters!

I promised myself that I would not post again. However, some topics that get off track are too tempting to resist. God, I am weak? I mean, nobody cries in the middle of a headache. Right? I am writing from a southeast suburb of Iowa Park.

Texas Meatballs: This is an extinct species. Most of them were killed by irate wives or discomfited neighbors. Typically, they were from out of state and never acclimated to Texas standards. There have been some sightings near the Louisiana border swamps; but none have been confirmed.

The species has mostly been replaced by the Bubbas. They are typically tractable unless they have had too much beer. Then they are extremely dangerous and unpredictable.  Kind of like cluster people on a bad day. On second thought, the cluster folks are probably more dangerous if challenged.

If a young bull agrees to become a steer, he must put a "stamp" of approval on a legal document which agrees to the procedure that will be performed. After the procedure is complete, the steer will bellow in voice similar to Michael Jackson as if his nether parts were trapped in a vise.

The product of the steer's decision will be served to unsuspecting out-of-state visitors in the form of Prairie Oysters or Calf Fries. Kind of like introducing them to fresh jalapenos. The entree can be improved with a side sauce of mayonaise and hot picante sauce or  pure Apple Cider Vinegar.

By the way, the apple cider vinegar huffed straight from the bottle is hell on shadows and seems to ameliorate a full blown headache. Heinz Rules! Had to snarl at my wife on Sunday because she wanted to sprinkle this precious ambrosia on a salad for crissakes.

If this involves more OSHA Compliance Regulation Standards, or the bull's attorney.....I guess we'll just keep doing it out behind the barn where we can be unobserved.  The bulls won't talk......bet we can bribe them with a few new heifers every now and then.

Elaine, I respect you and have always held you high in my support, and you probably didn't even know it. Not just from your POST either, also from HSG Chat. It's been quite a while since we've been in the chat room together, so i'm not sure if you even remember me, but you HELPED me many times.

Elaine, this proves part of my point.  What if you haven't posted.   First of all, i agree that there are people out there that are shy and will not post for any reason, but e-mail will give them limited help with their problem.  The person receiving the e-mail, obviously had to post or the e-mailer would not know of this person or their ideas. As well the person receiving the e-mail may not be able to help, maybe they try 3-4 to no avail.
Elaine, you of all people, know how this board differs in opinion, and in order to get the information you need to help your self, you can choose to read through all kinds of current post, and into the archives hoping someone has ask of the board for help in the same way that you would, because asking in a different way can lead to different answers.
Secound of all, there are always the exception to the rule.  Some of these people will find the help and or support they need simply through e-mail. Picking e-mails for especially a newbie, would be like try to find a needle in a hay stack as this forum grows larger everyday.

Oh Elaine, please don't think for a minute that i wouldn't want someone to feel welcome, but i can't make them feel welcome if i don't know that they exist.

Believe me Elaine, i know all to well about that one, but i'm not asking for everyday not even every week. Just once in a while, while your out of cycle (for episodics) let us know how your feeling.  We don't even know if your alive or dead as far as an entire family goes, because you can make friends here and not even really know it, and they don't get an e-mail. Yes, i do think it is selfish for someone to take and take from this forum of ours and NEVER give anything back.

I'm not trying to make anyone feel guilty for leaving the loop especially if there's not a computer around, but even at that they could at the least make a call to a friend and they could help them to stay in touch. Atleast to let us know how you are, cause people do worry. That's what i meant by staying in the loop.

Guys, i do want to say that Elaine is one of the biggest supporters of the entire Clusterhead family, for those of you that don't already know that, and she heads up
http://www.headachesupportgroups.com
and has done a wonderful job there, and if you want to, come chat with us there! You will find her site very informative of many sorts of headaches.  Just as here i can't say enough about it, it's been a lot of help to me!

Luv ya E!
just didn't want you to misunderstand me, that's all, and hope things are fine between us, because i couldn't stand it if it weren't.
