Title: "Guido's Time"
Post by paul_b on Apr 14th, 2003, 2:10pm
When I joined this family in June of 02 I would often share how my little Terrior "Guido" was such a good companion not only during my cycles but always. Well, this afternoon, after 13+ yrs. of great good buddying it is time to put him to sleep. His bladder tumor has begun to spread and before his discomfort gets more sever, its time for him to go with dignity.  I will have very special memories of him, especially how he was the only dog who grew into his tongue rather than his paws and the fact that he mumbled to himself as he walked. Yes, a unique animal. So to all of you who have a  companion to share your life, I wish you well and to all of you who have lost a special companion, I share your grief. This is one tough Monday.

Sorry to read that you will be without your pal.  Allowing him to go without sever pain and with dignity is a compassionate solution. You'll always have the memories.

.... and be sure to buy him a Happy Meal....

.... may not sound like much, but to a dog, it's the best going away present you could choose....

You dont know how much I feel for you right now.
Heres a little comfort.

I lost my little cluster pal Mildred the Beagle this past year. Cluster pets stick together to.

Mildred is waiting at the big doggie pasture for Guido as we speak. They'll shoot the shit about what idiots we were how easy we were to con.

Millie will show Guido all the best toilet bowls and trash cans in heaven, rest assured. Our cluster pets have their own special club to.

Guido is not alone.

Paul,

I'm so sorry to hear that.  It's so hard to let a pet go.  I often think our pets are the only ones who truly understand and accept what we endure.

Paul, so sorry to hear about you pal Guido, I know how sad it can be.
I've lost several dogs over the years and have always found comfort from this poem:

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I am so sorry for your loss.  My deepest condolences.  It is terribly hard to lose your best friend and cluster pal.  The love they give us is complete and unconditional, just like the love we give them.  You made the kindest and most loving decision you could.....to spare the pain he would have had to endure.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. I am finding it amazing how many triggers there are that bring him to mind. He was really woven into the fabric of my life. Thanks again.
