Title: I can't handle this anymore.... Post by Big_Dan on Apr 11th, 2003, 3:25pm Here's my diary of last night... 6:30 pm - K-6, imatrex killed it... 10:00 pm - K-8, imatrex failed, can't use anymore 12:30 am - K-10, called ambulance, they were dumbfounded, made them give me O2 for 15 min., and they left... 1:00 - 5:30 am - K-9, passed out from being exhausted... I'm working out of town, have to call the Doc to try and get an O2 tank, and now I can't get one because the med supply store here has a problem with giving me a tank since I'm an out of towner.... should I just rob them or what?.... Fuckin' bastards... |

Title: Re: I can't handle this anymore.... Post by PUTZ on Apr 11th, 2003, 3:36pm Ouch! I really don't know what to tell you. Ice, exercise, water? Can you guarantee the tank a credit card? Where are you? Maybe a clusterbud is nearby. TomM |

Title: Re: I can't handle this anymore.... Post by K. on Apr 11th, 2003, 9:08pm Hi Dan, Sorry you are suffering so much. I like your knife idea! Seriously though, maybe you could start a new topic stating what area you're in and that you need O2. Hopefully someone will see it and reply. I don't know, just a thought. Feel better! Karen |

Title: Re: I can't handle this anymore.... Post by Frank on Apr 11th, 2003, 9:35pm I don't know if this will help but here goes... Your doctor won't be much help in this case. But, if you are already getting O2 where you live and the company you get it from is national or regional (like Apria or Lincare... or has contracts with them).... Call the place you get O2 from at home and tell them you get O2 at home but you are someplace else. Get your account number, the name of a person to talk to at the home location, and phone number for the nearest O2 place where you are. Then, call the place where you are and tell them your account information for the home location place, and that you need O2 where you are, and ask them to arrange it with the place you usually get O2 from. Hopefully you'll get some O2 and the O2 company will figure out the paperwork. |

Title: Re: I can't handle this anymore.... Post by Peppermint on Apr 11th, 2003, 9:42pm Hi there Big Dan... sorry you are having a rough time. I am not a clusterhead only a supporter. However, I've seen many here that have a hard time getting 02 visit a Fire House and get 02 just by asking the firefighters (explaining the situation of course). Don't ever recall anyone ever saying they've been turned down. Give it a go, maybe it will work for you until you find a more permanent solution. Peppermint ;) |

Title: Re: I can't handle this anymore.... Post by don on Apr 11th, 2003, 9:46pm You can also alert the local fire station of your predicament. They'll help you out with the O2 when your getting clobbered. |

Title: Re: I can't handle this anymore.... Post by michaelc on Apr 12th, 2003, 2:31am hey man, i dont have insurance and i was able to get O2 in one day. Find a "public" health clinic and go in with some print-out's of info on CH, O2 and your personal CH history. Tell em you are in CHRONIC PAIN, getting the run-around & need O2, it was that simple for me. they wrote a script and i went down to the local medical supply company and got a tank and regulator for 70$ and refills are 25$. It took one day and no insurance hassles, it's not too expensive. |

Title: Re: I can't handle this anymore.... Post by Big_Dan on Apr 12th, 2003, 8:05am Thanks for all the suggestions.... ... I will however be able to get a tank on Monday when I return home for the day. My insurance, BlueChoice (part of Blue Cross Blue Shield), only allows me to get O2 from Apria, and since I'm in a rural area, there isn't an Apria "dealership".... so the only place that I could get one had some bug up their ass about giving me a tank.... >:( ... I've never used the O2 before, except in ER situations, and I took it upon myself to aquire a tank through the Head Doctor.... |

Title: Re: I can't handle this anymore.... Post by Ted on Apr 13th, 2003, 10:09am It's Sunday so I don't know if the O2 place near you is open today. I think if where you get it from home faxed a copy of your prescription and you were willing to pay out of pocket (and maybe get reimbursed by your insurance company) you could get some O2. At least I hope you can. If you have an empty tank with you and you get hit, walk into an ER with it and tell them your O2 is empty. The only time I went to the ER was when I was out of O2 and did that. They rushed me to their O2 set up and set it to what I requested. By the time they realized I didn't have some life-threatening ailment where I'd die without the O2 I was already on it. |
