Title: Am I missing something again Post by Wendy the Brit on Apr 9th, 2003, 6:48pm Dear All Have I missed the cheers about the situation in Baghdad? Can't believe everyone isn't whooping and shouting. The images I have seen today of the statues of Saddam being trashed reminded me of the scenes when the Berlin Wall came down. W the B |

Title: Re: Am I missing something again Post by Wendy the Brit on Apr 9th, 2003, 7:22pm Ree You are right, and I'm sorry if I am premature in my happiness. I know it's not over yet and is still dangerous for your family and their colleagues, sorry, insensitive of me. I have been so sick of some of the stuff I have been reading here, I have not felt it was a good place to be and I just wanted to have some positive stuff here as well for a change. Prayers for your family and you tonight W the B |

Title: Re: Am I missing something again Post by catlind on Apr 10th, 2003, 7:21am Wendy, I was and am rejoicing in the images I'm seeing. While it lightens my heart to see the people of Iraq finally seeing freedom, it is tempered with the sadness of the horrors of tyranny and war. Cat |

Title: Re: Am I missing something again Post by Bob P on Apr 10th, 2003, 8:16am They purposely kept Dubya away from the cameras yesterday. They were afraid he would become too animated and exited about the events taking place and didn't want to lead everyone to think it's over yet. We do have an election year comming up and I'm sure we'll hear plenty about it then. |

Title: Re: Am I missing something again Post by Callico_Kid on Apr 10th, 2003, 11:38pm Wendy, i appreciated your post. I too am fed up with all of the doom and gloom reporting we have been hearing. To hear the news in the last three weeks one would think we were losing. I guess the biggest reason I am not one jumping up and down as the Iraqis are is that I have been spoiled by the freedom I was born with and have enjoyed for all of my life. (Also, it is basically what I expected.) Ree, and all others who have loved ones over there, your loved ones are in our prayers. We owe them a much greater debt of gratitude than theywill ever experience. My heart goes out to the families of the young men and women who have lost their lives in this conflict. I think the greatest thing said so far was said to one of our Marines a couple of days ago when an old man walked up to him and simply said, "Thank you". That says it for me too. A grateful and proud American jc P.S. Glad to have you with us on this one Wendy! ;D |

Title: Re: Am I missing something again Post by fubar on Apr 11th, 2003, 12:06am Our soldiers are only just beginning the hard part. This is going to start getting bloody. The suicide bombings have only just started, and you can bet they won't stop until we are gone. In order to protect ourselves, the troops will have to be quite unfriendly to the average Iraqi, even though 90% of the Iraqis are dying to kiss and hug them. This will not help us. The sooner our soldiers come home, the better. I can't wait until we are completely out. -Fu |
