Title: Neuro visit
Post by Callico_Kid on Apr 7th, 2003, 12:07am
I need some advice please.  My wife was able to finally get me an appointment with a neuro from Loyola who supposedly is familiar with CH.  He was referred to us by a friend who is an ICU nurse in neurology.  She talked with him about my case and he wanted to see me before my cycle ends.  (I think I may be going chronic, been dealing with them since last March.)

The primary thing he seems to be interested in is testing me for Apnea.  I have read a few articles about Apnea on here, but it doesn't seem to me to be a contributing factor.  Is this something I should pursue?

I know that often people have been advised to print out material and take it with them when the see the Dr.  Is there anything in particular I should take along, or do I wait to see how well versed he is on CH?

Presently I am taking no meds.  I have used Fiorinol a few times when I needed some relief.  (It did little more than take off a little of the edge.)

What else do I need to do to prepare myself for the meeting with the Neuro?  I want to be able to talk with him intelligently and not just be a guinea pig.  I have no insurance, so I don't want to do any unnecessary tests or take a lot of expensive meds that don't work.

Please pardon this ramble, but I know so little I don't even know what questions to ask.  Thanks for all of the help you have been already.

Bummer, no insurance, me either. Just ask the doc for some samples of imitrex or whatever hes got that might work for you.  Since i had no insurance  my neuro charged me $35 per visit. About 1/3 of what he normally gets for insurance claims. Go figure!!! He gave me a stat pen and about $400 worth of imitrex (4 boxes) Nasal spray too!  I think we should have a PROTEST against the insurance companies!! NO, Bad Idea, too many protestors around here already (you know who you are, so STFU)  Samples,Samples,Samples          I hope i helped a little, Andy
