Title: Afternoon Cluster Headaches???
Post by Cluster_Head101 on Apr 4th, 2003, 8:38pm
As I mentioned in my first post, I have been getting cluster headaches for many years. One thing I have noticed is I hardly ever get them in the afternoon between 2:00p.m.-7:00p.m.

In fact, in all the years I may have never had one in those hours. I almost always get them 1-2 hours after I go to sleep or shortly after I wake up in the morning.

Does anyone know why I do not get clusters in the afternoon?

Luck of the draw maybe?  The only thing that's predictable about the beast is that it's unpredictable.

I was never a daytime h/a person.  The last couple of cycles, especially the one I'm in right now, have produced daytime h/a.  I think it has to do with getting stressed out.  I was in Walmart today and BAMM!  Within 2 mins, I was at a 8.  I think I am going to do some xanax during the day.  I think they may be do to stress.  Of course there are several things that 'trigger' when you are in a cycle... just need to figure them out.  GOOD LUCK

During previous cycles they have almost always been arounf 6pm to 1am... mostly after I fall asleep.
This cycle (and especially the past month) I have been getting hit at work 3-4 times per week... usually between 10am-noon, I keep a "E" size O2 tank on my desk (on it's side so it doesn't fall and break my computer).

I almost always get mine after falling asleep but there was one particular year that I was getting them during the day at work. Not as severe as the night ones but nothing in my life had changed at that time so I couldnt mark it up as a stress thing.
Ive come to the conclusion that it comes whenever the hell it feels like it..
Good luck to you,

suzy

A  CH will not ussually trigger when you are being stressed. They tend to trigger when the stress begins to disapate.

Thanks for all of the responses. I actually have gotten a couple clusters this cycle after 10:00a.m. but they have almost always been in the middle of the night or right when I wake up.

this cycle has been anything but normal for me.. I get hit at all times.. Im getting hit alot in the afternoons too.. between noon and 1 and then again around 4.. and I have no idea why. besides that.. ive been getting a couple  in the evening and  2 or 3 during sleep time... and I can also almost always count on one within 15-20 minutes after waking up in the morning..  If anyone has any insight on this please let us know.. or if alot of us are having unusual cycles this time Id like to know. (Im fixin to post my vents here soon.. Im getting so fn sick of this crap)

well....mine are abnormal, so here i am :)

I take melatonin at night, so I don't often get a ha right after falling asleep...i'm too drugged up for it ;)  But around 5:30 am when the drugs wear off..there that stupid mofo is.
I do get headaches daily as well...usually 9am ish, 1 or 1:30pm and between 4:30 and 6 and then after that it's just stupidly there.

I tend to get mild shadows in between there too..sometimes more than mild shadows.

I also tend to get a ha right after I eat.  Either the mandible is bugging the trigeminal nerve or my metabolism "slows down" causing me to slow down and relax enough to get a ha.

Guaranteed that if i have a nap...there it is again.

don't think that this has been helpful to anyone but I wanted to let you know...some ppl got the daytime ones and some don't.  Be happy if you don't ;)
