Title: SARS
Post by cbolony on Apr 1st, 2003, 4:40pm
*Stones cancel China concerts
*NHL players possibly exposed to SARS
*Virus causing financial woes in Southeast Asia
*An American Airlines flight from Tokyo was quarantined on the tarmac at San Jose’s airport Tuesday after five people on board complained of symptoms similar to those from the mysterious new illness spreading through Asia, airline and city health officials said.
*This thing seems to spread a little easier than first anticipated, so we want to take every precaution.’
*The number of SARS cases in the United States has increased to 69, the CDC reported.
SCARY

Anybody here ever read "The Hotzone"?  Very scary, factual account of ebola virus and it's spread.

Chicken Little notwithstanding, we have a situation here.  I'm sure *somebody* here remembers the stories about WWI when 20 to 40 million people died when the flu pandemic first broke out in 1918.

This little gem spreads easily, may be airborne, and is alarmingly effective at killing the host.  I don't normally fret over things like this, but this one might be worth keeping close tabs on for a while.

My son works in Newark Airport and yesterday when the flight from Hong Kong came in, every single person leaving the plane had masks on. He said it was a very wierd and scary sight.

I run a small dog kennel out of my home and I have to give annual vaccinations of course...one is for 'Corona virus'.......(what there sayin SARS is).....symptoms of it are very similar to Parvo and can only tell the difference from lab tests. So many similar virus's animals get people now get without vaccines yet for us Pam..........(PS: I hear we are to expect to be hit very hard this year with West Niles....our area was one of the hardest hit last year and we had a dry summer to keep the toll down some....scares me !!!!!!!)
